I like the first verse, good description of the severity of the pain and loved the 'barometric pressure going crazy' line. I understand that you are referring to catching a cold in the first line of your third verse, but the line doesn't link it back as well as it could. Perhaps you could rephrase that line so the verse can stand on its own = 'these winter snows bring bring blocked up noses'
Some inspired descriptions of the pain in your last verse 'The devil's foothold on my soul' was marvellous and your final line ' he puts a cold compress to my brow' was just beautiful. x moyramouse

I think your title says it all. Any one that suffers from headache, especially migraines, like I do, will actually enjoy the poem very much.
Here is to a headache free day.
Nicely done.

Patty, You convey the pain of this type of headache most effectively
I love the alliterative image of God's putting a cold compress to your brow. Brooke

Patty - I can relate to headaches as I get them quite often. In fact, I'm fighting one now. I think what you wrote is interesting. I hope your headache will leave you soon and stay away for a long time. Kat

Thank you, Kat. The headache eased up once the barometer leveled out. A good thing! I have class tonight and all day tomorrow and cannot afford to not be 100%! ~patty~

I'm not sure what you would call this Patty. I don't think it fits the bill of either free or verse and certainly not prose peotry but I am a migraine sufferer and the occasional tnesion headache so I really felt your pain. I think this may have been more successful as a form if you had written it as a piece of prose or perhaps a an essay and I can certainy remember wishing death would end my migraines which i can have for up to 6 or even 8 days in a row. Awful. xx Carol

Hi Patty,
This is an excellent poem and many, many people will relate to it. A couple of my kids have terrible headaches from time to time and you description of what a bad headache feels like helps me to understand more fully what a fierce headache feels like. I especially enjoyed your last stanza where you bring hope for the future into the picture... in Heaven there will be no pain. Thank goodness for that!
Well done. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, W ^-^

It maybe not have the rhyme or the proper way - that I like it like this - but it is very communicative images and continuous flows, also transmits the feeling of despair from headache that have you that time. Well done!
