A lovely tailored verse, with a beautiful and yet sad meaning. A hope that someone will listen, save the day! This work made me feel a soldiers plight, I had clear vision through your words. Stephy

a cry from the heart as a young lonely frightened soldier, makes a final plea in desperation to be with his loved ones once more

I do agree.
I think we have all be guilty of this:
I have not appreciated
the spark of life enough
Life is a sacred force.
Using the bird is a terrific metaphor.

This is quite lovely. I love the line: "My life beats within its breast" very strong. And yes, in the cities Pigeons have gotten a very bad rep. (flying rats) I myself, find them lovely creatures. Of course, I love all creatures so much more than man!

I like your poem about the carrier pigeon, Victor. Nicely done. These birds have done some heroic things. You might like to look in my portfolio for my poem, Story of a Hero.

victor,
your free verse is very well written. I enjoyed the message about technology. Your art work is lovely. Effective use of alliteration. I enjoyed the lines: "I have not appreciated the spark of life enough But my lesson will soon commence
Go now Go my fellow stout winged warrior And save me from my fate," Thanks for sharing your creative free verse.

The pigeon for me has always been a 'yeeechh' kind of thing. they crap on my porch, gargle at me all day long, and I'm sure that while they are carrying their messages, they are also carrying disease. BUT- you wrote an ode to them and your words made me realize that in the larger scheme of things, these are miraculously gifted creatures who can be trained to do what they do so well.

Most interesting. I felt like the time setting was medieval and this carrier pigeon held a life-saving message, his last hope. Well written if that was the time period intended. I most like the closing verses, "stout winged warrior" - it really raises my opinion of pigeons. LOL Well done.

From what I remember, carrier pigeons performed a great service to our troops in the second world war, carrying vital messages back and forth! I was very young at the time, but I remember these stories that intrigued the mind of a young lad! A great write... cheers, Jack
