What a great piece! The presentation of the topic is done well, and logically. Examples illustrate the actions of animals that lead us to lend human characteristics to them. Examples also lend validity to the idea that wild animals also demonstrate some sort of emotion.

Thank you for a great read!

An interesting insight into animal / pet sensitivity. Naomi sure is lucky to have a friend who highlights her love and care for her pets Fido and Fluffy.
Nice conclusion.... a good message. 'What if we could learn...'

This is a well written article and I must agree with the thoughts you have written here. There is much more to animals than most are willing to give credit for. Dolphins have been known to come to the rescue of swimmers in trouble and to chase away sharks that are ready to attack swimmers. I have heard and read many tales of creature that will do amazing things. I really enjoyed reading and writing a review for this well written article... John

Hi John. You are most gracious with your encuraging review. I'm so glad you found it interesting. I hope to elaborate a bit more of what you touched on in your review - the psychic life of pets - in the next essay. Much appreciated!! Bev

I was thinking about the elephants before I even got to that part. I remember seeing something on t.v. a few years ago about elephants burying their dead with leaves. I can't remember which show it was, but that's what I was thinking about. This was both interesting and informative. It's something to think about, for sure.

Hi WFD,

A very well-written and extremely interesting article. Your use of anecdotal evidence to support your opinions was well crafted. Reliance on experts was also a key element in your piece. Very enjoyable.

Wow. Your writing is perfect, the points are logical and it flows effortlessly. I was able to review this with an unbiased eye even though my children and all my pets are in fact, perfect, special, and extraordinary:-)

Great example of your friend who thinks her new kitty is a reincarnation of her former cat - you explain what is going on most convincingly.
Some compelling comments about the elf calf and animals in the zoo.
What a thoughtful essay this is - I look forward to part 2. Brooke :-)

Consider, perhaps, that man is closer to his animal nature than he likes to admit. That he responds to those behaviors in other animals that he sees or would like to see in himself. It's comforting to feel part of a whole. Excellent essay. :) Nancy

I can only say is I like animals and prefer that they are in their environments.

One thing I really don't like is the dressing of animals in all different items, they are not meant to be your babies, wearing nappies and clothes. I feel this is disrespecting the animals. Though I know a lot of people would disagree with this.

It's an emotional subject for sure! I hope to relay with my essays that animals have a language of great beauty that we must resist interpreting based on our own ego needs. Thanks so much for stopping by to read the essay and send along your wonderful encouragements. Much appreciated! Bev

Interesting and quite well written, but a final check before posting could have disclosed the following errors, though I've already made corrections in parentheses.

-He(lies)in the same spot on my bed- He could 'lay' if he were a chicken.

-Ignoring a (thousand)-year-old breeding code, this calf risked-

-the emotions of wild animals(are)primarily due to survival instincts-

A title should suggest concisely what the article is about, but I cannot see that 'Beautiful Animals' suggests that you will be writing about animal emotions.

I do not see the relevance of Cherokee mythology to either your title or animal emotions, yet you've set it in bold as if it is key to your account.

Peter
