Wow, an ampeletum seems so difficult, yet you pulled it off so well! I love the imagery in your writing! This makes me wish I could ice skate!

I used to roller skate and play roller hockey as did my son. It was great quality time and interest to spend with him! Debbie

I like your depiction of the graceful skater, dejohnsrld. However, I felt that I had to give you a four because your rhyme scheme does not follow the rules for the ampeletum in stanzas 2 and 3. You still have plenty of time to rework it for the contest. Good luck.

What a beautiful poem! I love how you incorporate action throughout the piece, causing us to see in our minds, the skater and his/her impact on surroundings. This poem has a lot of rhythm and imagery to it. Nicely done.

skates stroke ice with success - wonderful alliteration and consonance
Wonderful descriptive detail - I have been a huge fan of figure skating since a little kid watching it on wide world of sports and you really recreate the atmosphere so well, Deb.

This is a very nice poem about ice skating. I'm not a skater myself, but from what I know of the sport you have described it well. Thands for sharing this.

Good "moral of the story" in this poetic style. Lots of vivid imagery and universal truth. I liked the rhymed lines and words you chose, switching up a bit the old adage "practice makes perfect".

Now, you make this look so easy. I tried writing one - for weeks - and finally just tossed it in the garbage. Your poem has the smoothness of a sheet of ice. The alternating rhyme suggests the alternating feet of the skater gliding across the ice surface. Your imagery creates a lovely, graceful picture. Nicely done.

Indeed, does not the perfecting of the grace, form, exactude and proportionate balance require so many years of unimagingiable practice?

It certainly does. It takes so much dedication for the child but also the whole family. Thank you for your review! Debbie

Thank you so much for the 6 stars. I watched skating last night and then penned this poem. It was difficult as poetry limits the words that can be used.I am thinking about a non-fiction to allow more of the details to be told. Thanks again! Debbie
