I am sorry to hear that your Marine faces yet another battle. The Viet Nam war sent home so many casualities, wounded men not only physically but mentally/emotionally and not only were they mistreated and disrespected on foreign soil, they faced it again in their own country upon their return. I hope your husband wins this battle and someday in the far future Jesus will indeed say "Welcome home brother."

Judy, your poem is heartbreaking, because I believe after readng about the Viet Nam war, most Americans were angry, not with the soliders, but with the war itself. I've no doubt your Marine gave his all for our great Country, and please let him know that we do care. My prayers are with him and your family as he fights the greatest battle in his life.

Thank you so much Lola. It was pretty cool the different times we were hospitalized the past month and doctors and nurses would spot his tattoo and then thank him for his service. It meant so much. Your review means so much too. Wow, 6 stars, thank you. -Judy

Judith Ann, I am so sorry to hear your news, but I do so hope you are heartened that life with Jesus is right around the corner for your Marine. Your poem is beautifully expressive and well composed with good flow, rhyme, use of refrain, and you make your point with passion and conviction.
I am proud to say I was a college student protester of this war, but never once did I disrespect a soldier for they were high on my list of why I protested the war - I wanted them returned home safely. I never understood those who disrespected and/or neglected returning soldiers who had fought with honor. I never had a beef with a single soldier, unless it was a general so high up the ranks he was part of the decision making. My problem was always with the government who were sending our young men into harm's way. Those young men sacrificed and many died, and many of those who did not die returned home with horrible injuries or emotional problems, and none of them deserved any of those fates. I honor your Marine's service and the service of every single man or woman who has ever worn the uniform of our country (short of the bad apples, and there are bad apples among any profession any place). I so hope that those ill-advised protesters who added to the struggles of those who served back then have since apologized for their actions. I have been to the Wall in D.C. a few times - what a moving place it is. Brooke :-)
