The story is a peek into coping with intimate partner violence that rings true. Amazing how resilient children are in finding a way to escape, physically and emotionally..at least for now. You capture her experience in an immediate way that is very engaging.

on it's wings - drop the apostrophe
dandylion - dandelion, unless you're spelling it that way on purpose to be playful
My husband's parents screamed and threw things at each other when he was little - he remembers retreating into the living room and sitting up close to the TV console. He would turn up sitcoms like I Love Lucy to full blast to drown them out - his version of this little girl's escape into fantasy. How sad that children must learn such coping skills. Brooke

Hi Brooke! Thanks! I had fixed these early this morning? Could you look again and see if it has worked? Maybe not. Odd. I am sorry your hubby had such a childhood. I used to read and go off like my story when I felt bad. I would go to the apple tree with a book. Lots of times tho, not because my folks were fighting, just that feeling of being "out" looking in? Strange. I so appreciate your being here for me Brooke. Susan

on its wings is now good but dandylions still reads with that spelling

Oh my. It shows as being "fixed" on my end? EVIL eddie, little so and so. ") Thanks Brooke!! xoxo, s

It is nice that she has a place to escape. I love the imagery in this story. I could smell the hay and feel the kitten's tiny claws. Nice writing. Anne

Almost afraid to say out loud that we are OK, thanks - ssshhhh. altho just spent 3 hrs in hospital weeing the eye specialist - while there I had to have the ducts of my right-eye surringed with a needle - yuks!! Having a lot of infection still in that eye and the lid is swollen. As he thought it couldn't be cleared - completely blocked - soooooooo have to see yet another specialist (Goodness knows when 3 to 4 mths wait) and might have to have it operated on (not another bloody operation!!) - in the meantime, I'm on more antibiotics and steroids. Don't like this getting older!! M xx

Too many children have to tolerate too much stuff from their parents. At least this little girl had a place to escape to, for a little while...

Dandelion, and fairies... I think

Well done, Buck

Hi Buck, thank you! I fixed this and explained the spelling of faerie. It's Galic, I'm pretty sure? If you are interested in such things, Google the artwork of Brian Fraud, he is such a good artist! ") I always spell dandelion with a y, because that's how I say it, but I changed it anyway! Thank you very much, your reviews are so welcome...Susan

Poor little girl. Actually a kid need not find an escape from reality, reality should be kind to her. But, well, things happen. Good observation.
