This is a charming little story that in spite of the limited use of word presents a story with a problem to solve, success and grand adventure and a nice conclusion with the little guy having a birthday present for his mom. Good luck in the contest.

This is an excellent piece of flash fiction. It is well written, well edited, and your opening paragraph captures the readers interest and continues through out

Hi there! Thank you for reading and taking time to review too! I am so happy you liked this little story...

Nice story. I do realize it is hard to keep to such a short word limit. The picture fit the story.
This story would fit well with younger children. Perhaps you could expand it a little for a children's book?
Thanks for a good read.

Hi there! Oh please let me know why the lower rating? I will take your ideas seriously! ? Thank you for reading for me anyway!
-
I guess because the story did not grab ME. It seemed a little too simple. Going back and reviewing my comments and your story, I upgraded it. I guess I was tired and not thinking critically.
-
Hi Dusty! Thanks, but I just wondered. SO sorry if this wasn't what you enjoy...I do appreciate your input, I get tired too, it's hard to keep up at times. Seems time gets away from us. I appreciate your consideration Dusty. I really do. Susan

Cute story! Nothing more touching for a mother than to get a bouquet of flowers from a child's hand. I enjoyed reading your story.

Well done, liked that the "littlest cowboy" was smart enough to coerce--better as coaxed--the horse with an apple to get the bridle on. Only thing is, if the cowboy's as little as in the great picture you found to go with, then I don't see him being able to bridle a horse yet. Maybe I'm wrong...Very cute story, nonetheless.

Hi there, thanks! This was just the best picture I could find...he is little. But my son could do it when he was around four, so I don't know. I will see about changing coerced? I appreciate your input!

I seldom read the prose on this site, but I'm very impressed with this! Whoever you are, you're an excellent writer. In nothing flat, I was into this little character, and I love the touching happy ending. Best wishes, Jeanie Mercer

Great little story. I like the bond between the boy and horse. It reminded me of a time in the wild west, or Little House On The Parrie. You showed a true connection between man and animal, a bond formed over years between boy and horse, and an intelligence from the horse, an almost sentimental, psychic-bond between the characters. Good luck in the contest.
