The rhyming was forced and was easy to read.
I smiled as I read it because it brougth back memories of good times with friends and sending gifts.

I am glad it brought back some nice memories. I think those types of memories help make this time of year so special.

Well, I wouldn't say this was a great poem. The cadence is hit and miss and the rhymes are pretty pedestrian (love/dove), but I'd have to be a real Scrooge to mark it down, since the sentiment is sincere and it's heart is decidedly in the right place. Merry X-mas.
Cicadas....in the winter? Here in Texas they're strictly a Summertime phenomena.
