Hi, Realist, this is so interesting to me as I myself am now interested in stories of the after world. (I've written 3 stories with this theme, among others Watching Wina.) You've described your 'visit' to your old house very delicately, and the sentiment of the patchwork quilt is so tenderly written.

Hi, Susan. I started liking stories like this after I read Mitch Albom's For One More Day. Besides Watching Wina I wrote also One More Day and Invisible Girl. Wish you could read them so we can compare notes ... :)

Susan,
your supernatural fiction story titled The Patchwork Quilt is very written and a moving read. Your story paints a picture in the readers head. Excellent narrative and great descriptive writing cap off your story. You established a setting, conflict, and a resolution in your story. Your dialogue is very good. I liked this description of the narrators: "I see Molly, my beloved calico cat, now taking a nap on the bed, curled tightly next to my old pillow, the one that had been so soft and warm; and I wonder if she misses me, as much as I miss her. She opens one eye as I stand in the bedroom door. I want to caress her silky hair." What a creative way to approach the contest. You story is an excellent entry in This Sentence Starts The Story. I wish you good luck in the contest. It was a delight reading your moving story. Have a blessed day.
Melissa.

This is beautiful. It reads almost like poetry. I didn't know until near the end that you were just a spirit left behind. How sad that would be to still see all those things you long for but are unable to touch. This is very creative and a good entry fot the contest.

Sometimes those memories are simply overwhelming. I am battling a similar situation with a stray dog I took in. I don't have the heart to impound it. Very painful, where is the light? i wonder sometimes. Thanks for sharing, i hope you're doing better.
