It is an extreme misinterpretation but there are people like the Abraham in this story. That's what gave it the horror for me. I was hoping when I first started reading that it wasn't going to go there but because of the names Abraham and Issac I had an idea. This is a well written story. The flow is excellent. I really like how you added Issac's thought such as the witness perfection agency and the comment about Indian summer. It helped make Issac the four year that he was. The age added to the impact at the end.

Well Al thats quite a twist on the story of Isaac and Abraham. Kinda of a Biblical Halloween story ha ha ha. I wonder who you pissed off more the Pagans , or the Christians ha ha ha. Seriously this was a very imaginative take on an old story. Great flow with plenty of detials and your little jabs here and there were a riot. I have a feeling that your Abraham most have been a fundamentalist ha ha ha. Great story and good luck with the contest.

This story, based on Genesis' story of the binding of Isaac shows what a bit of fanaticism mixed with a religion c.6000 years old can do. What happened to Andy and Pete?
If Abraham wasn't such a nut job, he would have turned the mule into the ram in his diseased brain, and sacrificed it. But the clue (calling the mother "that bitch") tells me that his motive was to get rid of that boy, and he probably planned on a 'not-guilty for reasons of insanity' verdict.

That's the mystery of the story--what happened to the other two boys? Thanks for a good review.

Hi Alvin:)
Poor Abraham! He thought he was part of a miracle by God, but what he got was a mockery that made him guiltily of murder. Was this event staged by Satan instead of God? That's my interpretation and that makes this a horror story.

excellent writing, but not quite my cup of tea. I only found one small nit: Isaac didn't know what that meant--just that Abraham kicked the mule [if ==> if it} wasn't moving fast enough and encouraged Pete and Andy to do the same. {Did you leave out the pronoun 'it'? Actuallly, i know you over corrected, because when I fist read the story you had written 'if if.'Lol.

I can't find this error. Can you give me a context? Thanks for a great review.

I just rechecked the story and it appears that you have corrected this error.

Written very well and I guess their are people like this

father around today, maybe worse?

I found the last few lines somewhat confusing as to which one died?

The father or son?

The son died, just as was threatened in the Bible. Thanks for a good review.

This was well thought out you are talented, to take what was written in the bible and turn it around like that is really interesting reading.
So sad, yet not that unlikely if the person didn't know his own mind or whatever.
Good luck in the contest.

This is excellent writing, Alvin. You tell the story expertly with lots of emotion. The only suggestion I would make is that you change the age of the child. This sounds much more like a child of six than a child of 4. I have 14 grandchildren and 3 of them are 4 years old right now, and they are all smart little kids but none of them are as advanced in thought as your child here is. Also, I am the mother of 6 children, all grown now, and none of them, at 4, reasoned things out or talked like your child in the story does. But at 6? Yes, a child of six thinks in the terms you describe. Hope this is helpful.
The story itself is super. Cheers, W ^-^

Yes, I think I'll move the age up to six. Good suggestion.

Oh.... this is horror indeed. I read it with much interest since it was the story from a four-year old point of view. Your work is well balanced, great descriptions and imagery.

The writing is excellent, and yes is a terrifying misinterpretation, but so are some famous paintings on the subject. It is not my favorite kind of subject.

Alvin,

As usual, you grab the reader by the collar and make them sit up and take note..what a twisted version or the Bible..meant to be of course..it got my attention and a few shivers besides.

Thanks for a good review. It's amazing to me how people can twist sacred scripture for their own nefarious means.
