Wow. Creepy and disturbing. Hard to read in some spots, but thats writing that gets to people. Very gritty, grabs the reader like a train wreck. I wanted to look away, but couldn't.

Yes, and to think this is based on a Biblical story (Genesis 22.) Thanks for a great review.

Whew! A modern day reenactment of a biblical tale. You spin a good story Alvin and I was on pins and needles waiting for the same outcome ... that he be stopped.

A great read for me and I enjoyed the thrill of the write.

Wow! I have always found that story very frightening. I remember when I first heard it I could not believe it was in the bible. You did an excellent job of modernizing and rewriting it. great work

This was a very well written sick and perverse story that would easily hold the reader's interest to the very end. May Abraham now get exactly what he deserves for be reprobate religious fanatical.

Wow Alvin this is certainly scary! I knew it was going to be scary from the beginning but your writing has a way of capturing the reader and it wouldn't let it go till the end. I wonder if mean Abraham was following the bible, but he was sure terrible to that little boy Isaac.
As always, excellent writing my friend.

I wish the best of luck in the contest.

Wow, heavy duty Al. I
believe that there are
people who have done this
in a misguided attempt to
align themselves with what
they presume is correct. Any
way, excellent discriptions
and dialogues. An excellent
show of how wickeness can corrupt
everything around even if not
recognized. This might also
fall under the heading of not
"Tempting the Lord". no nits
or spags. Lora

Beautifully written! Your prose style is exquisite. The details of the story are well organized. The reader receives much of what he needs to know in the first paragraph. You build up sympathy for the poor child from the beginning right through to the end so the reader feels the full impact of the conclusion. The dialogue has a natural-sounding ring to it and the narration is to-the-point and informative. Very enjoyable!

Thanks for the extraordinary review. Isn't it amazing this story (with a different ending) is in the Bible?

Sacrilegious comes to mind. Also deep, quirky, horrible, abusive, and unfortunately, an accurate depiction of the human condition. As that female comedian with the accordion used to say: It could happen.

The writing is flawless.

Good Morning Alvin,

Without a doubt, any form of child abuse tears me up. With that said, this was a hard piece for me to review.

The emotional and graphic violence committed against Isaac was presented in a most believable and chilling manner. The dialogue was fast paced, but left a great deal to the imagination. And I think this is the exceptional part of this piece. You left to the reader's imagination about what happened to the wife and the two boys. This manner of writing is very Hitchcockian and most effective, thus adding value to the suspense and "chill" factor.

The hallmark of the piece is the Hitchcockian Factor--building in the suspense. It made me think of the old film, I think it was "Vertigo", where the girl was being strangled in the park and all we could see were some shadows and hear noises. It was chilling. That's the feel I had when reading this piece.

Your writing skill is impeccable. It is most descriptive, vivid and suspenseful. I continue to be amazed at the depth and breath of your literary and writing skills. :)

Good luck with the contest. This should do quite well.

Oh, how horrifying, Alvin - just
a little lad of four and his father
a maniac.

got religion - ignore if I'm wrong, but should this not be - got religious

kicked the mule if (it) wasn't - add
from its body and on the ground. - suggestion -
from its body on to the ground

Good luck with the contest, my friend.

Margaret.
