HI Barbara,
You say you are not a poet, but poetry is just a tidy way of expressing emotion, and I think you did that very well with this piece of work.
I wish you the best of luck with your treatment. the coming weeks will be difficult and it is the perfect time for practicing selfishness, do only what you want to do and when you want to do it, have lots of PJ days with your feet up, the phone unplugged and a good weepy movie on the TV, LOL
I'll be thinking about you,
Jules

I wanted to where my favorite purple night gown for my treatment, but I figured after the treatment they wouldn't let me go home and I would end up in the another section of the hospital.

Dear Barbara:
Everything is going to be fine... You are so brave expressing your fears and thoughts in a poem. I hope and pray that you overcome everything successfully. Your free verse poem is amazing!
God bless you my friend!

You may say you don't write poetry, but your poem brought a bit of a tear to my eye, so this is a job well done. Apparently they have advanced on the drugs a wee bit in the past ten fifteen years. My first husband had leukemia and they wiped him out. The one thing I think important to remember, try very hard to eat. YOu won't want too, but even soup any thing that will stick. He liked Chinese Won Ton soup, and I'd sneak it in all the time. Actually, the nurses would let me becuse it helped. That's my advise. I went through a lot with him. so if you need a friend, or someone to rant at, you know where I am. Also look on Facebook. I'm always check in there. God luck my freind

Barbara, anyone who looks honestly at their life circumstances and is brave enough to record it as it is raw and real in smooth flowing verse is a fine poet in my opinion...and that is what you have done here. Your litany of strengths is moving and well phrased and your brave hopeful attitude comes across beautifully...best of luck and know I am thinking of you and sending positive healing energy your way.

Barbara, any woman that has birthed four boys can handle dealing with Cancer. You will fight this and win. I've seen what chemo has done to my friends, and it's not pretty, but they all came through. In fact they came through with a new appreciation for life. I know you will too. - John

My prayers are with you Barbara as you go through the chemo. I've had two friends go through it from my church and they are both doing well now. It's tough but attitude and faith are everything.
I know nothing about poetry but this sounds heartfelt to me. Warms regards, Donna

Thank you for your encouraging thoughts. Hey, I know nothing about poetry either. It just seemed the easiest way to get my thoughts across.

Well, I'm a bit late on this but I hope everything goes well and that you have a swift recovery. My grandmother went through it many years ago and she's still alive and kicking. Always keep up hope! :)
I can't imagine the things that run through a person's head, but I'm guess this poem is a pretty good example. Nicely done!

Your poem is very raw and real. I'm so sorry you have to go through this treatment, but I pray God will give you the strength to get through this. You sound like an amazing person, and you're a terrific writer (I've read other work of yours as well). I hope you will feel well enough to work with the children and without compromising your health any further, because I know their sweet smiles will brighten your days. Stay strong. God bless you, B
