If I only knew then what I know now, how different life might be.
Well done with your whispers to a child. We have to believe in ourselves regardless if anyone else does or not.
Maybe it's not too late for us all to Begin Again, Buck

this is very well written with good form and good flow, a great job writing about the pain you are talking this girl through, knowing what will happen and trying to prepare her for it. good luck in the contest

Some of this I could be telling myself. This really is a powerful piece of writing. Deep seated anger, yet hope rises from this, but it is hard, very hard to make lemonade sometimes...I hope you do...please know, you are not alone in these feelings. "/ Susan

You too Carol. I'm having some health issues, probably resulting from stress. Try to NOT worry so, Carol, it will literally make you ill. Luv, Susan

Hi, Author, this is a wonderful write containing your advice to the little girl you are. Isn't it sad that a girl will always be be girl in the eyes of the father, and the situation has not changed even now. My heart goes for you.

Belinda,
Thank you for your kindness and support. Thinking you know what your father thins of you is one thing...having him actually voice it was a blow....but I surprised myself in the fact that I can recover from this stumbling block as well. Appreciate the kind words...Carol

It seems I have been here before but it was good to read this again. It was a great post and I'm glad you revived it.
Beth
This is great writing from a stong woman and I'm pretty sure I know who you are. I think you put your signature in that last line. This is spicy and fun to read and really good advice. If I was that kid you're addressing I don't know if if I could handle all that good news. LOL I'm sure this will do well in the contest.

Beth,
My father's latest verbal abuse was something I'd thought my entire life but actually hearing him speak the words really stung. The surprising factor was that this contest appeared at the right time and I was able to dig deep inside and find that I can and will survive this blow as well. Thank you so much for the kindness. Smiles, CArol

Wonderful piece. I feel inspired. I agree with you in that life can hand one some lemons but it is best to turn them to lemonade. Otherwise, one becomes bitter and perpetuates the ill will towards others. Maybe that is what happened to the "daddy" in your piece. It did have an autobiographical read to it. God bless you.

Yes, it was based on my life and feeling, but I discovered I can stand alone without his support and blessings...life does move forward. Thankyou for the support and encouragement. Smiles, Carol

This is a story in which many grown women will recognize themselves. You have done an excellent job of going through the girl's life, her heartbreaks and her accomplishments. I have a feeling you know this girl or maybe you are her.
Having been the one girl in a family who doted on their boys I feel pride in this girl's strong constitution. Thank you for this painful but very good story.
