This is a good one and I can relate to it in more ways than one. Is her refering to the alcohol. It read that way to me which I liked.

    Hello Barb,

"fantasy and reality in a muse can take us beyond the limits of imagination, especially with a bottle of martinis

This line came from a wonderful poet on fan story. Love it!!

So pleased that you enjoyed my poem. "martini" is the first poem I wrote after a poem writing hiatus of 35 years. It has taken some editing to get here.

To answer your question, "is her referring to the alcohol", I would say that "her" is a reference to this woman, real or not, who has him in quite a tizzy.

    Peace,
    Jill

I'm not entirely sure but I think the delirium tremors will be following these waking hallucinations that are luring him into the miasma.

Great word choices and a real "film noir" sense conveyed here....The fantasy could be real or the product of "living in the bottle". A fascinating write--Ted

No Martinis? That's a pity, though I can't drink gin....somethng in it, the juniper berries? Vodka martini for me, though I like the "brown/amber" hard spirits, but adore fine wine (I actually wrote about food and wine for a time). I'm pretty confident in my poetry....beauty is in the eye....
    Interesting stuff you've penned--Ted

this is absolutely spectacular. every word so perfectly appointed to the precise space it belongs in. original phrase after beautiful original phrase. even the shape is enticing with a martini in the middle. not much of a critique I realize. but great is great. thank you. mike

That is a wonderful poetic narrative, especially for a Friday afternoon. You are creative as this poem drips with focused visual imagery. Romantic and expressive. Fantastic work.

Wow, what a fantastic imagination and what mental images this poem evokes - I can almost see the femme fatale he is seeing or imagining! Now that's a real buzz he's got going on! LOL

Greatly entertaining poem. I enjoyed it very much.

That was excellent. I really enjoyed it. The chaos on the desk in the after-mourn. The hazy effects of alcohol and the desire it creates. You did this so well. I could actually visualise it. Well done. Sheryn :-)

What an interesting poem, I liked it a lot. It leaves the reader wondering just how surreal or otherwise this femme is. Mystery and yet real. "Something distant like a wish"
I liked that line. Well done.
