Your courage and resolution...and the struggle you have maintaining them through your inner strength and with your faith...come through in every sentence you write here. You must be a powerful person, kind to others, who now must...even in pain and frustration...continue to be kind but this time, kind to yourself. Your heart comes through in this writing, and it is clearly a resilient heart and one full of faith, including faith in the future, whatever will come. It was a privilege reading your essay and the poem you concluded it with. I wish you and your family the very best, and thank you for the courage you show here through sharing.

Thank you for your kindness. I wrote this hoping to help others who are facing the same battle know they too have the strength to fight.

    Hi again,

I went through this (a different cancer, but cancer all the same, with all the treatments) and I got through it...It was a hard struggle but I won (if that word "won" makes sense in this context, but you know what I mean). I can be done. I'm better for it. We don't always choose our battles, but when and if we get through them, they give us new strength and new wisdom. Hang in there. Much love.

Good morning Barbara,
I saw your title and I just could not pass up an opportunity to convey a few things to you. First, I know first hand there are no words that I could say to eliminate your fears of this dreaded disease. If there were, I would shout them from the mountain tops. As you may know, just four years ago I lost my wife to breast cancer. As a husband I took her to most of her chemo and radiation treatments over a nine year period. During that period new drugs were constantly coming onto the market. Many of which she benefited from taking. Doctors are always learning how to treat these cancers and lives are being saved or extended. I know it's cliche but when dealing with this disease I think it works and that is to take it one day, one procedure at a time. Educating yourself and loved ones around you is a key to getting the appropriate treatment. My wife always referred to Dr Susan Love's Breast Book. It is constantly being updated and we found it to be a great source of knowledge in treatments and side effects. By the way, my wife also had very curly hair and hers came back curly. It may just depend on which chemo drugs they are using? Don't be afraid to call on your family and friends for support. I wish you all the best luck and all of God's blessings now and in the future.
Sincerely,
Warren Rodgers

Well Barbara, no two women are alike, you know. I'm hoping for straight hair for you!

One reviewer told me that she knew someone whose hair grew in a completely different color. HUMMMM, wonder how I would look as a blonde? I know this is no laughing matter, but it helps me stay positive.

Three years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer in his intestines, pancreas, and lymph nodes. He underwent aggressive chemotherapy and kept a positive attitude throughout, despite feeling sick a lot of the time from the medicine. Two years ago, he went into COMPLETE REMISSION and has been CANCER FREE ever since. He is now 100% HEALTHY. This evil disease CAN be BEATEN. I admire your positive attitude and fighting spirit.

It is sad that breast cancer is attacking so many women, yet you found the courage to write about your situation which truly inspires other women. God bless you for sharing your courage and your weak moments... thank you! Judy

Hi Barbara,

Not sure what to say. I am not getting any words to write. It seems like a writer's block got me this time. I wish you all the best for the 16th. Your strength and faith in yourself is the greatest that can keep you going.

I pray for you and may GOD's blessings always be with you.

Well done! I saw the title and had to read this (not to mention you wrote it :-) I applaud your approach--my mother fought her breast cancer for years. Add my wishes and prayers to your reservoir of weapons against the enemy of cancer.

Thank you for a great read!

I've known many people who have fought and beat cancer, my friend, who was 23 when she found out she had breast cancer, remains to this day the happiest, strongest and most positive person I know. You show all these qualities in what you have wrote and I really admire your courage and determination. Sending postive thoughts your way, G x
