Cancer is not a funny disease at all. My aunt had to go through chemo and she hated it, to be blunt.

But I like that you have a community of writers and fans, friends and family who encourage and uplift you, help you through this hard period. I enjoyed how you pointed out the ironic events in your life as well. Your poem shows the courage of your faith and beliefs, as well as the strength of your spirit in face of pain.

I have a few suggestions, if you want:

I would put this line "Webster's College Dictionary, second edition." in parenthesis.

I'm facing but for the rest of my fans I'll bring - I'm facing, but for the rest of my fans, I'll bring

friends and family the strength - family, the strength

I enjoyed how you try to search for the positives, although there might be few. You have a great essay, serious, but adding a little humor. I hope your next surgery goes well. All the best, JeJo

You are thought of daily and prayed for. God is good and your are a good person. That means in the end everything will be good. Have faith and you will be fine. You have a tough road to travel, but I believe God is walking beside you holding your hand and saying. Believe.

Wow what a piece of writing. This was a really hard hitting piece. I would say I enjoyed reading it however that doesn't sound right with it being about cancer. Good luck and I wish you the very best for the up coming day on the 16th.

This extremely well written story is heartfelt and emotional that brought tears to my eyes. Your well chosen words are poignant and truly amazing. I don't know if I could have written this if it were me in that situation. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Well done!

Sorry to read of your illness and surgical ordeals, Barbara, but glad to hear the strong note of faith and of the flock of positive friends you have to support your fighting spirit in your battle. Your poem is moving and your prose piece enlightening and inspiring...Good luck to you.

Hi Barbara,

First, let me say that you are in my prayers and will be through this next phase. Second, let me say that it is brave of you to set it out this clearly and in this detail, but that is probably the best way to face it and to deal with it.

I shall be thinking of you on the 16th.

Patrick

You say that strength found you rather than you found the strength yourself and I believe you are under selling yourself in this regard. Strengh most definitely hsa come to you through your own efforts and yes, thanks to your wonderful support network, your own strengh is even further strengthened. As for you not considering yourself a poet? I disagree. Your free verse says many things, not so much about cancer, but about your exemplary character "Cancer cannot cripple my love, I feel loved more each day". This my friend, is poetic art and though it is sad to read of your future for the next five years, it was wonderful for me to hear that you are still talking of a future which proves you are a fighter. Often, there are challenges in our lives that mean we need to re-define what is normal for us and I know that you will find your way and establish a healthier you. I am not religious, though Jewish and very proud to be, but may I add all my good wishes and thoughts to all those precious people you have around you. You are a very courageous and strong woman who has inspired me to live a better life. You are a poet. I will be thinking of you. The Blue Pixel...aka Carol

You can add another contintent to your list as this new friend of yours, me, lives in Australia.
