You are a remarkable woman Barbara and have written a strong, forthright, no-holds-barred piece on the realities of you diagnosis and treatment; tinged with humour and peppered with positive thinking.

I would like to offer you support from Australia, the "other" continent, and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery from this insiduous, but not unbeatable disease.

All strength to you and yours and I know your faith will give you much support as you travel this difficult road.

Well written, inspiring and heart warming. Best wishes for Thursday, I will be thinking of you. Regards, Jan

Bravo to you my poet.A mighty warrior of faith.I know you have more great poetry in you to.The poem was the most encouraging poem I've read to date.We never know why we get things in our life so difficult and heartbreakin, but know that God is right there in the mist. You had boys because to give them a soft side to love their wives ,daughters and you just when you need them too.BLessings"Rosebud"

Hi Barbara,

There is no question about it, cancer is devestating, but you already have the battle won, because you have such a positive attitude, which is vital to recovery. Breast cancer is such an assault on the essence of a woman's femininity it can be difficult to overcome, but I suppose the thing to remember is, the part of us that makes us 'us' is on the inside and the rest is just 'trimmings'

Good luck with the surgery and stay positive!

Jules

Thank you for your kind words. Some days are easier than other days. Today was a stressful day because of work, but then it carries over to my feelings. I needed to hear those words. Thank you.

For someone who claims she is not a poet, I found this poem to be incredibly strong. It's very clear that the cancer cannot - and will not - get the best of you. You've got the higher power here. It read beautifully, and I found it incredibly empowering, even for us who are not suffering from cancer in particular, but perhaps other difficulties in life.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, and I wish you the best of luck with your future treatments. You're a very strong woman, and it's clear here that you have a wonderful community supporting and praying for you here. <3

Of all the medicine available, the best one is the love and positive emotions that you surround yourself with. Your essay is heartrending, powerful, and filled with so much bravery and love.
I am in your corner, pulling for you, praying.
Very very well written.
Good luck and blessings.

Got a chuckle here: "Of all the women on Earth, why was I given boys? I am a girly girl. I love pink, romances, mom movies, am extremely emotional, and enjoy all things feminine." ;p

So very true: The greatest healing therapy is friendship and love. Hubert H. Humphrey

I like your up-beat poem. It's the only way to go.

Blessings and good wishes :)

It is not easy to face the day with uncertainty and even when we know what lies ahead sometimes we are at a loss for words. I hope and pray that your words brought you strength and comfort and that with the healing hands of God and love of family and friends you will be healed. Thank you for giving of yourself so that others may understand. Job well done.
