Very compelling personal essay on your diagnosis,
trauma, treatment and resolve regarding cancer condition.
Conveyed with both emotional and realistic contrasts,
in a very intelligent overview, with touches of wittiness
and humor too.
That you have the resolve, faith, love, support and
triumph kind of spirit and determination is all so very
evident, and indeed it is what will enable you to
persevere and conquer.
Thanks for sharing your courageous journey and
path back to wellenss. God Bless.

Barbara... I have only been on FanStory for a little over a month, but I feel as though I know you. My mom was one of the lucky ones and a survivor of breast cancer. She lived several years after her mastectomy. I can tell from your writing that you are a fighter. All I can say is keep your faith, your will to live and a positive attitude and leave the rest to God and the doctors who are treating you. God and the prayers of your friends and family, will help you through this. I will be one of those praying for you.

You know, Barbara, we have a great deal in common. I also have naturally hair and wear is short. :) This is a heartfel pouring out that is not easy to do. I know. We have the same kind of cancer, except I have two, both incurable. I had a mastectomy in Feb. and 23 of the 26 lymphnodes were cancerous. But before that fact I had found out my cancer had metastisized into my bones, which makes it stage four. Then 3 mos. later I found out I have cancer of the blood, multiple myeloma. It basically destroys the bone marrow. You will make it, Barbara, because of your faith and your family and friends. I have not had chemo or radiation, but have been on Aromasin- takes all the estrogen from your body. The poem I just posted will tell you miracles do happen. Never give up, put it in God's hands, and fight like the devil. God bless you and if you ever wish to talk let me know. You will be a survivor. This piece deserved an exceptional because I know for many how difficult it is to speak of the horrors of cancer. You have broken through the first big obstacle. Joycexxx

Barbara, the strength you share in your writing is easily felt and I hope anyone going through the same terror and gain strength from your positive attitude. Cancer is a demon who's touched the lives of every person. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers on the 16th. God bless.

Hullo Barbara ....

It is both kind and generous of you to share all this information about your cancerous condition with your friends on FanStory. For my part, you are in my thoughts and prayers and it is great to know that you have such a fighting spirit as you face further surgery. How wonderful that, through it all, you can already write about feeling the strength you receive from being loved and cared about by so many.
Thank you for sharing this with us. The greatest prayer you can offer is "Thy Will be done." God does not will our suffering but He allows it. If we accept and offer our pain to Him in union with that of His Divine Son, in time we realize that through suffering, we come closer to Him. Remember too - you have a loving Mother in Heaven Who is also the Mother of Jesus. She knows ... She cares and She can help you through her intercession on your behalf.
Love from ...... Nanette Mary.

Your poem is very spiritual. It is really a poetic prayer. You have related a story, true I know, of a very strong woman who is ready to fight tooth and nail. This writing indicates to me that you will win.

I see more of your best traits here: determination and sense of humor. Your poem emphasizes your positive nature and faith. I hope and pray everything will go well in your next surgery, Barbara.

I wish you all the best in the coming months. I too was diagnosed with breast cancer three times. In the end I had a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation over the following 5 years. My cancer was considered aggressive and the fact that it came back twice was not a good sign. However, I, like you kept a positive attitude and proved them wrong. I have been cancer free now for nearly 15 years. It is a difficult road but one that, as you say, you have no choice but to face. Do know that you have many friends who love and care about you and if you ever need a shoulder to lean on, mine will always be available.

Barbara, First I am very rarely rendered speechless but I've sat in front of the screen for quite some time absorbing what you've shared. It's not a shock, but very sobering. I wish you the very best and will continue to pray. Pamper yourself, allow yourself anger, receive the help of friends and family without feeling awkward, they need to do it as much as you need to receive it, laugh when you get the chance, AND FIGHT LIKE HELL!
Love,
Connie

Thank you for your kindness. I plan on fighting, I have no choice. I mentioned to my husband after the meeting with my chemo doctor. I don't want to go through chemo. His answer, you have no choice. He's right I have no choice but to fight and I am ready for this battle. I wrote this hoping it would help some woman, somewhere, realize she too has the strength to fight.
