You send a very positive message. Cancer is a terrible word, but people have fought it and won. I wish you the best in the coming treatments. I'm sure you will defeat it.

I am new to FanStory, so this is the first I am hearing of your ordeal. Sharing these personal notes with the world takes courage, faith, and self-lessness. As far as when your life will become normal again, well the strong understand that normal just depends upon circumstances.
And about not being a poet, don't sell yourself short.
I rarely pray, but I'll make an exception for you.
Get well. Lee

The six stars are not awarded out of sympathy, but for an exceptionally well-written, inspirational piece. I am buoyed by your faith and determination. I am awed by your bravery. I am in admiration of your skills.
Your situation is almost identical to that of my wife who underwent surgery and radiation more than eighteen months ago. We get on with our lives by believing that hope and love conquer all.
My very best wishes for your victory.

This is a very powerful story and a very moving poem. No doubt you have received many messages from others who have suffered from cancer, or are still suffering, we are a large group. You have to fight it and to be confident that you can beat it. Don't despair. Try everything and there will be something that will make a change. You will survive. Don't give up. You might have a few steps back before you go forward again, but you will go forward. You will.

You sure have the right attitude as you go through such a hard time in your life.
You have your wonderful family their for you and your friends and all the people here on FS even the ones like me that don't know you very much.
May your ordeal be over very soon and let god shower you with all his love.

Barbara, I am sending you mega-doses of love and friendly hugs. Between now and Thursday I plan to send so many prayers out into the universe, and then I'll just keep them up until you are declared cancer-free :-) And anytime you want to yell or cry, you just go ahead, my friend. Brooke

So sorry to hear about your current health struggle, and best wished with your surgery on 09/16. Thanks for sharing such intimate details, as they're unquestionably helpful to others who are either currently facing similar struggles or will in the future. I think the poem is a well thought out affirmation. I will keep you in my thoughts.

Barbara, I take my hat off to you for remaining so strong and so positive. God gave us our minds not only as a gift, but also as a powerful instrument we can use to dictate to our bodies whatever we want it to do. The unconditional love and heartfelt prayers of loved ones that surround you will also be a strong protective weapon against your adversary. You will have your days of doubts and shadows and fears, and that's okay. Just don't indulge in self pity and jump right back on the horse of positive thinking so that you can win this race. My prayers join the ones of all those who love you and want you well and happy again. Many blessings. Amarillys

Barbara - I'm of the age where I know many people who have been diagnosed with cancer and many who have overcome it. The ones that I know who are around and still kicking are the ones with great personal strength and faith - you have both. I will add you to our prayer list tomorrow, and of course, you will always be in my personal prayers. Bill
