This is such an awesome poem and nicely written using creativity in your words, imagery and the way you monopolized the iambic pentameter (da DUM da DUM da DUM da DUM da DUM) without rhymeing. I enjoyed reading this poem, it definitely kept me captivated and stimulated the creativity in my imagination.
Well done.

For clarification, the visage is a hallucination. The blood loss occurred when the narrator of the poem fell down whilst drunk and hit his head. The best way to have me review a poem of yours is to write me a private message requesting a review. My identity should be revealed next week. Thanks for stating my poem is deep and beautiful.

This was my favorite set of lines:
Yet I discovered God that afternoon
Whilst the whole village slept, oblivious
To the diverse and sundry ways our Lord
Performs great deeds and miracles and signs.
I can't think of anything to improve it.
Nice work!

Yes, I really like that stanza as well. That one just flowed out of me; I think God truly inspired that one. I am glad you liked it. Thanks for an excellent review.

Very nicely done, such a
daunting task/challenge to
take on however I believe
you have met it well. Your
accomplished pen has provided
a smooth well flowing write
with much to ponder, in a very
pleasing format. no nits or spags,
good luck with your contest. Lora

You tell a very nice story which moves from the depths of darkness and despair to light and love. Your words depicting both extremes are filled with passion and the sense that the speaker has been there and is baring his soul to the listener. Good job.
Best wishes in the contest.

This is an absolutely beautifully written blank verse poem. I found your very informative notes to be excepionally helpful, especially your explanation of meter and rhyme in this form. I loved how your imagery worked to create and then expand upon the underlying message. Mexico is such a beautiful country, but I never found it to be especially romantic until now. Thank you.

Oh, I am so happy you saw how romantic Mexico is. It is a beautiful country, as you say and as my father taught me (he often had business with Mexicans.) The literary works that have come out of Mexico in the last twenty to thirty years have been superb. Thanks such a complimentary and excellent review. Your review moved me.

I wish I cd have said something a little more intelligent. Lacking those skills, I speak to how a poem affects my thinking. Yours is truly moving. Good luck. I wish you the best.

The primary purpose of a poem is to move the reader; all else (although I am a traditional formalist structure is very important to me) is secondary. I greatly appreciate your review. You saw the forest; some people see only the trees.

Excellent poem. You handle the form beautifully and still manage to show a vibrant moment of a person lost in a personal hell saved, and it doesn't feel trite to me. Simply wonderful.

A lyrical work of beauty and finesse...finely constructed with care and thought. The emotion comes though without the use of a hammer over the head. It fills the heart with a gentle, lovely touch recognizing that, while not sought, this unexpected encounter brought the balm of tender romance to soothe the injured soul seeking solace while on a walk in the quiet peace of a village in siesta.

I enjoyed this work very much. I thought it was very rich and imaginative. I especially liked the line -
"Dark bruises are discovered on my soul"
Very powerful!

You take the reader on a journey to a foreign land, and with your wonderful descriptions we can see it. We also feel the emotions that you are expriencing in this heartbreaking love affair, as well as the joy you find in your new love. good job.

Thanks. If I can cause that kind of empathetic reaction in a reader, I have done well as a writer. Thanks for a good review.
