This type of poetry is very difficult to write. However,
I thought you showed a great deal of experience with this piece. I am very unfamiliar with it, but you made it seem simple.

Very nice work. Extremely well put together. I enjoyed your words immensly. I normally dont touch on love in my works,nor enjoy those that do, but I must say, this is astounding. It was just short of a six in my opinion.

One does not take to long to move on eh? lol
This is an enjoyable read. though i did have to work to get the imagery and meaning behind the words, that doesn't take away that it's a well written poem. Colour theme and artwork really help capture the setting

Thanks. I had to work really hard to find the right color scheme. Thanks for a great review; yes, reading this poem is work, especially if one is not deeply immersed in Mexican culture.

Blank verse is one of the few forms of poetry which I've never tried. You have created a lovely poem using this form. It makes me think I would enjoy reading more of this type poetry. Good luck with the contest. I think this one stand a good chance of winning.

The contrast between the first three paragraphs and the last three, I thought, It was done well. The street, to me, symbolizes the moment where you went from being lost to being found. I would to walk down that street someday. This poem gives hope to the lost and the broken. Take care.

I'm a babe to the literary world, and so I don't know too much about form. I love the content of the poem however, telling of how to love yourself after recovering from a broken heart. Good luck in the contest! I'm sure it's a great entry.

The way I see this fascinating blank verse poem. Is a drunken wretch of a man who went through various deep emotions before finding God and the love of his life. I think this is very powerful almost Shakespearean in its content. It tells a story in a short but concise way. I love the first stanza which sets the scene to this very powerful poem.
I admit, I'm no expert here but I really enjoyed this read. Well done to you and all the best for the contest. Paul

To meet the love of one's life on an ancient street in Mexico when one feels devoid of erotic thoughts and lust, is a miracle of God. The door has here various significances being a very powerful multi-faceted symbol.
"So during the siesta that fine day
I walked a street of ancient Mexico
And viewed one maiden's liquid soft brown eyes;
I met the woman whom I now adore."
So God is there for us to open the doors of our lives miracles.

Yes, you understood well the reference to the transcendent that I desired in this poem. Thanks for that and for a great review.
