You did a great job, Carol, with your story for a novel. I enjoyed reading and reviewing it. Though it is poignant, it shows how life goes on. The granddaughter is a sweetie and only knows how to be helpful regardless of the circumstances. The mother comes to understand in her own way about how she must be there for her little girl and the soon to be born baby. I like how excited she was to see her Grandma and Grandpa. You are an excellent writer.

Such a cute and heartfelt story. I can't imagine getting ready to have a baby on my own. Katie sounds such a delight! I had to laugh out loud over the shoes being on the wrong feet. I actually did that the other day. I couldn't figure out why my feet were hurting. I looked down and yep, the wrong feet. Sometimes laughter really is the best medicine.

I can tell you that grandfathers still adore their daughters, love only expands with the family's increase, it never gets smaller, it's the only thing in the universe, that is beyond growth, look at how people God loves. Beautifully written dear girl, blessings Roy

I never heard my father say those words to me... and it hurt me my entire life. After his death, my mom wrote me a small letter explaining that he did care but just couldn't say it. I had a wonderful mother who tried to protect me. I suppose maybe somewhere in his mind; he did the best he could for me...it just wasn't what I needed from him. Smiles and hugs, Carol

Still not clear, but so many of your beautiful offerings are autobiographical I'm betting at the very least there's a lot of truth to this...even if embellished! That's so sweet. I don't know how much of this was based on real life but all of it felt real to me from the pregnancy fatigue and the active baby inside with the thoughtful daughter's help with the shoes. So glad the "ogre" believes in fairytales.
