I really like how you have developed the theme of 'shadow on the landing.'
So many old people seem to fear death while other accept it with calm acceptance.
"I thought it was you. You've finally come have you? Well I'm ready."

I loved the story! I thought it was a good interplay between people and death. It's often said that the threat of an event is much more scary than the actual event. It seemed to me like this was the case with Mabel. Once she got over the anticipation, and faced death (square on), it wasn't so bad. There were other things noteworthy, but I'll leave it at that. Good job!!

Ooh, I enjoyed this so much!
I liked how you managed to combine the horror/thriller genre with something more profound. Something which is going to come to all of us, rather than the fantasy monsters and the like. That last para was a compelling mix of horror and resignation.
One of the delights of flash fiction like this is that one can go back and read it several times, and pick up all the little subtleties that did not occur first time round. Almost like reading a poem, which is where I usually hang out.
A great pleasure. Glad I found it.

I am sure old age and her sight caused images but she did give in to her fears finaslly to meet her fate.

The end came as logical conclusion of her fears.
well put

Very good. Wish it was longer, but I understand this was for flash fiction. I enjoyed that little twist at the end, and the story fit in well with the picture.
