Wow what a great ode to the reference Cowboy Up! Over here in Australia at the country B&S Balls they Cowboy Up a lot. Not sure if its quite the same as yours but I am sure the intentions are good!
Country folk sure know how to have fun.
You wrote this poem wonderfully well and it was also very thoughtfully presented. I enjoyed it in its entirety.

I really enjoyed your poem. It gave an insight into life as a cowboy with a strong work ethic and honest nature.
It also rhymed well although the flow of words was a bit rocky.
I am fairly new to this site too and have found free verse poetry that doesn't restrict you to specific form is a good medium. When using a rhyming scheme I have noticed reviewers will look for good meter and smooth flow. One example would be matching syllable count. Hope this helps.

I love the phrase, "cowboy up" ... your verse explains it well.
I especially liked;It's what makes a cowboy tell it straight;
its being in pain, and calling your gate.
It's having nothing, yet having it all;

A great piece of poetry, and very true to the Australian way of thinking. I've worked on different stations over the years, mainly mustering cattle and you certainly wouldn't whinge or you'd be considered a wimp but mostly your pride would stop u from complaining.
Structure - well put together and developed
Rhyme - consistent throughout
Rhythm - good easy flow.

I like the sense of integrity that comes across about the Cowboy here, and the authenticity. The picture is nice as well, and fits the poem perfectly. (I've lived in Texas all my life, so I do know some real cowboys.) Best wishes to you, Jeanie Mercer

I find the phrase 'cowboy up' repreats throughout a tad overdone and you use a lot of fillers like 'it's' throughout that could be taken out and/or replaced with descriptive words. Overall, this is a good poem that is interesting and I enjoy the cowboy imagery.
