Dear deepwater,
Good rhyme and metre make this poem easy and pleasant to read. A great lesson on philosophy also. The only thing to do when you are down is to get up.
Regards
Reg

deepwater, Sadly, my life experience does not include the rodeo, but your excellent telling of the story of Cowboy Up has educated me nicely. Thank you. Kelly

I enjoyed this poem very much. I liked the message it brings and the colouful way you presented it. The cowboy theme was an excellent choice to portray the message - suck it up and soldier on, put your back to the wheel and push as hard as you can and find your inner strength.

I especially liked;

It's a spirit tried and true;
like a guardian angel, it'll see you through.
So when you're down and things look rough;
Look deep within yourself, and.

"Cowboy up"

It almost sounds like the Australian drover mentality, which I guess is our versin of the cowboy. Regards, Jan

I don't know any cowboys, but this poem let me know that they are hard working decents guys that put up with or miss out on a lot just for the love of it. I enjoyed reading your poem.

Hi think you will get one of my six star sets! I like this, I can relate to it and I like the underlying message through out, the strength after obviously a broken relationship. I like the words, "Cowboy Up" they are catchy and make you feel good. I think the next time some-one is down around me, I'll Cowboy Up to them! And myself if my moods gets a bit low! Great little poem! Marion.

A great flow to your poem as well as the message, said in an innovative way.
'It's knowing what's wrong, and doing what's right;
though it means, you're going home alone tonight.'

love these lines. They say a lot.

it's being in pain - add the apostrophe
Your poem has a good, steady cadence and strong rhyming couplets that enhance the thoughtful message you are delivering - I especially like the vivid concrete examples you provide that leave no doubt what a person has to do to take the high road and be a person of integrity. Brooke :-)

What a wonderful and positive way of looking at the world, and certainly from a different perspective for many (city folks!).
Well written, great message.
Warmest regards, Marijke

I like the metaphor of cowboy up because it can mean so many things to different people. I live in the country and have seen many a cowboy and cowgirl. I live across the street from people who actually ride in rodeos. Each stanza has something unique and true to say. I especially like the last stanza and the lines, 'so when you're down and things look rough, look deep within yourself and cowboy up.' Welcome to fanstory. I joined in Jan. and have learned a lot. ann
