This is a wonderful poem . I enjoyed the rhyme. It has a great rhythm and flow and was very easy to read. You have told a great story about the man and how he was not appreciated until after his death. Well done.

Beth, isn't it interesting that so many famous people didn't know they would one day be famous. So what good is it? Gads, if I can't have it now, I don't want it. I've wondered some time if the few paintings I have done will someday bring millions. They're quite good, but I guess that's not a prerequisite, judging by van Gogh's later works. So, probably not.

Nicely done. pat

Thank you for the review. I didn't know you were an artist. I paint too, but I don't have a distinctive style like Van Gogh did. His later fame didn't do him much good but if he could have known how famous he would be someday it might have make his life a little brighter.

This is a wonderful tribute to Vincent Vangogh. I may not have spelled his last name right. We have several prints here in the house. My husbands favorite is Starry, Starry Night.

Thank you for the review. Starry, Starry Night is one made famous with Don McClean's song by the same name. I like that one too. There was a movie about him a long time ago called Lust for Life. I think Kirk Douglas played Van Gogh.

Beth,

Your versatility in writing amazes me..Your poems touch on small glints of life and you show us a part of each and every place with your wonderful choice of words..I'm not much of an art freak but you gave me an insight into Van Gogh...Well done!

Carol

Thank you Carol, I was an art major so I learned to appreciate different styles of art. Van Gogh's style isn't my favorite but I've read enough about him to know he was a very passionate and interesting character and I love the song Starry, Starry Night by Don McClean. I appreciate your review and nice comments.

But Vincent, it will be[,] in time.

WOW... the best one, in my eyes, and that last verse!

But know, my friend, it's not in vain
you suffer though such awful pain
The impressions you will make on art
come from the beauty in your heart,
and years from now, you'll still be known
for a style that is yours alone.

I am not in the habit of copy/paste... but this is absolutely marvellous. The last verse would stand alone without that first word.
Congratulations, Beth, on a wonderful entry. Pat.

I'd just reviewed one of your poems, and I find this too equally interesting to read. I'm joining your fan club to ensure I don't miss any of your poems.
Your tribute to the great master made excellent reading. He was far ahead of his times.
I liked the way you wrote, But Vincent, it will be in time.
Unfortunately it took a long time for his time to come.

I enjoyed your tribute to Van Gogh.

I especially liked your ending:

But know, my friend, it's not in vain
you suffer though such awful pain
The impressions you will make on art
comes from the beauty in your heart,
and years from now, you'll still be known
for a style that is yours alone.

I like your slant rhymes, Beth, such as kind/time, world/swirl and poverty/willingly :-)
You life will end - Your
the impressions...comes from - impressions come
I like your tribute to VanGogh, which captures his forward-looking style and the impact it has had on decades of art, as well as the troubles it caused him during his life. Brooke
