This is a lovely poem which tell us about winter sports in the Olympic Games. I really enjoyed watching them. You are right. Sometimes it seems that they fly.
Congratulations!

A rictameter on a very topical
subject, the winter olympics,
in which your choice of photo
sets the tone for your artfully
written poem that captures those
extraordinary men who fly through
the air.
Well done and good luck

While not my favorite poetic form, I think you did a good job with this rictameter. I particularly like your last three lines. I think the skiers would take issue with the six feet of line 5, though. I know that it would mess up your syllable count, but the aerials have the skiers in the range of 30 feet above ground at their peak. Good luck. Steve

I see, good point Steve. 30 feet above ground is awesome but not very poetic in here. Sigh! Oh well. Thank you for reviewing my work.

Love the way you put this as
poets of gravity, white grace.
It is most amazing as I wonder how
many falls did they have to take to
get to this point of ability , to have
the confidence to fly as they do. I've
skied but I can't imagine this.

'Poets of gravity' - what a fantastic phrase, which lifts this poem to a level of excellence. Wonderfully expressed, with some wonderful phrasology.

What a beautiful poem, for a sport that is poetry itself, in motion. Figure skating holds the same awe for me, although the skiers take much greater risks. The picture is perfect for the subject matter.

They ARE AMAZING, aren't they? Did you know I used to be a gymnast? Not a skier, by an stretch, but I could tell my body what to do and it would simply do it.

Those were the days. Now I have to rely on such things as poetry, gardening and singing, etc. to play and shall never reach the lofty heights spoken of in this wonderful poem.

Good luck in the booth~

I think body movements are so precious, to the soul and body as well. Ggymnast are great! I like how they twirl in those ropes! Have you tried yoga?

Hello... This is a lovely rictameter about the Olympic skiers...especially liked Poets of gravity. You are missing a 4 syllable line after that {White grace is 2 syllables)... so, a possible suggestion might be...
Poets of gravity(6)
Defy all odds(4)
Skiers(2)

other ideas for a 4 syllable line might be ...
Graceful white doves (4)
White grace floating(4)
White grace becomes(4)
...
Anyway, will upgrade rating when you turn 'White grace' into 4 syllables..

Enjoyed your rictamaetr. Good luck in this contest!
Cheers... ;)

Thank you starkat! In my excitement I missed my count of syllables. How "white grace airborne" sounds to you? I so appreciate reading my work to the last detail.

Thank you for commenting. The syllables are supposed to be 2-4-6-8-10-8-6-4-2.

I see you fixed it. If there's a way to upgrade the rating let me know and I'll gladly do so.

What I have done in the past: I read it and comment it how the first time and write the new rating.
    Much appreciated.
