Such an adorable story - I absolutely loved it. You said it perfectly: simple things - profound moments. Very well written, with great imagery. I particularly enjoyed your description of your daughter's smile, that your granddaughter seems to have inherited. Great job. Bill

Aw, this is too sweet for words. I can just picture your granddaughter with her little hands on her hips :). The meaning you got from her little exchange with your mother is beautiful - so we learn from our children and their children.

Thanks for this little tidbit, it was an enjoyable read.

Hi Bhogg,

I thought this was a very touching little essay. It is succintly told, without any rambling 'fluff' yet manages to capture all the emotion you obviously wanted to share. This is very well written and of course, very very cute!

Your writing always touches my heart! I have grandchildren who constantly amaze me with their folk wisdom. As you said, everyone does. The difference is in the way the story is told, and you tell a story very well.

That was a very enjoyable grandchild story. Some of them go on and on but yours was crisp and entertaining. Very well written. Nice job.

Brilliant, Bill. I cannot say more than that. I am a grandfather and great grandfather and I am well aware of the cute sayings that young children come out with and how remarkably like the Mum or Dad they can be in their expressions or behaviour. It is all in the genes of course but it catches you in the heart. It is a wonderful feeling that part of you will live on through your progeny.Excellently portrayed, Bill.

A delightful short story, which brought a smile to my lips, and brightened my day. What a cute grand-daughter, and a lovely epiphany - as you see characteristics carried on from one generation to the next. I love the logic of 'the cat can't read' too!

What a funny, cute and awesome story. Your granddaughter sounds adorable. I remember Art Linkletter with his show "kids say the darndest things!!!" and they do

This is a special little story with a huge epiphany! You explicate how in the little moments, we see the whole universe all at once. I loved that you ended it with humor, and returned it to a special moment with your granddaughter.
