Never heard of them but was pleased to learn of them in your delightful free-verse poem that smackes of the feel that humans find things to amuse children no matter what the situation. Pathos is the best feel of this poem.

I never heard of "sock monkeys" but caught on to the concept right away. Similar to rag dolls. They could be much more comforting and companionable than the hard-faced dolls of what we considered the rich kids. Sweet poem. Blessings, Jeanie Mercer

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. I think sock monkeys have much more meaning because originally they were made from old socks so children would have toys. Thanks again. Elaine

During the depression times were hard and money for presents were were scarce. A sock monkey shows you don't need a lot of money to create a great gift.

Another kind of primates are banker baboons. I hate them and wouldn't mind if they were turned into toys. Liked your poem. Ta.

The children in my family have always had and loved sock monkeys, so this brought back warm memories of simple pleasures - love those toys with no electronic parts and no $60 price tag!!! Brooke

This is very cleverly written, it is very short, and would be easy to expand on to make some more excitement flow from it and grab the readers attention, you could also work with it to make it a tear jerker, or a fun, happy and humurous poem.
