beautiful, absolutely beautiful. This poem just put the widest smile upon my face after having read it. This is the poetic voice at its absolute best. Great imagery flow and language in this well written verse. This was just everything a good piece of poetry should be... John

This is quite lovely, Brooke. The slightly elevated diction and the alliteration (especially those s's) lend the poem a gracefulness appropriate to the content. This combined with the skillful use of the quatern form and the beautifully executed rhymes and rhythmic aspects provide a wonderfully smooth flow and a sense of serenity and royalty that I like a lot.
Good stuff.

I like poems to evoke memories, and yours often do. This one brings nice memories of swans and lakes and early mornings. Very nice rhythm and message of serenity.

I am always thrilled to hear one of my poems has connected with a reader's memories and experiences. Thank you for taking the time to share that with me, Eric. Brooke :-)

Before the realest ship transcends the world,
let us at least partake of just a look.
Before this bird we're naming Captain Cook
floats from our dock with perfect wings unfurled
let's give to her the love we feel inside,
and send her off without a hint of snide.

well, that is just a fascinating poem, Mike. I don't think I've ever used "snide" in a poem. :-) Thank you. Brooke :-)

Brooke, a lovely quatern. Some of these images are simply superb! Notably:
framed a path with pink bouquet.
Reminds me of *the* ballet ...
its flowing gracefulness
a consequence of fairy's wand.
Sometimes it seems the beauty of nature can only be explained by something magical
... I in silence watched the swan,
serene, its circuit of the pond.
Again, all the music in the world, all the beautiful words that have ever been spoken can not do this justice, best to enjoy it in awed silence.
Fabulous work, Brooke.

Wow, what imagery. Excellent poem. Beautiful words. I've tried to photograph swans on seveeral occasions but never could catch a perfect shot. So I'll remember this poem, the perfect shot.

Carol, keep at it - the perfect picture could be just around that circuit of the pond! :-D Thank you and good morning! Brooke :-)

You seem to have mastered this poetic form! I've still to give it a try.
I love the picture this paints. To be in a serene place, to witness the swans...would be lovely.

Dawn, a little escape is a great thing for a poem to offer, so thank you for letting me know I succeeded in doing this. Brooke :-)
