Hi Jan:
Beautifully written. My mother used to commune with Jesus like you do. In her church, she was considered one of his disciples and spread the word by giving lectures. She looked to Jesus for helpful guidance in her religious teachings and he inspired her.

When you talk with him, you must feel inspired too. I think that's wonderful. I saw no spag issues in your work. I just wondered what he told you when he came back.

Have a great day, my friend.

Janilou, those of deep faith and imagining Jesus' physical presence stretch things. Furthermore, in your dialogue with Jesus, you name several cases of friends in deep need of prayer and Jesus' help.
Isn't it cheapening things to major on a barn sparrow in lieu of such dire needs?
It's not that Jesus disregards them or is unable to bow to them. It's just that sentimental stories detract from the many complex issues, desperate needs of humans, and a range of serious problems in our world.
He has made nature to work for us and with us. If we concentrate on these serious matters, little birds and all other wildlife will be included in the social and environmental actions we exercise in balanced citizenship. We will come closer to the proper faith, devotion, and witness to redemption. Lost souls will sit up and take notice then.
I'm glad you're devout, Janilou, and I wouldn't discourage that for a moment.

Far from it. I used the barn swallow as an analogy, and highlights the needs of those the world often overlooks.
I appreciate the review, although you don't mention what needed correcting in the work, hence the four stars.
As for the rest, I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

Janilou:

As always, your writing is flawless. I enjoyed the read, I suspect the barn swallow would too. just one very minor observation. I think Dear Heart is two words. I could well be wrong.

Hi Janilou...this is a fabulous story and I enjoyed every word. I talk to God all the time and I know he has answered me so often...maybe not in the manner that I wish he would but He does what is best for me. This story touches my heart....well done....blessings....chey

Thank you so much for letting Christ pour through you to all of us. This is a glorious story full of important messages. That he would die for just one of us reminds me of my favorite story of the Little Lost Lamb. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

You structured your story so well, with the powerful title to introduce it and its theme to conclude in the last lines. I liked your good advice in "you can't carry their burdens." I admired your lesson about the barn swallow's possible worries and her being a symbol for the rest of us who may be hurting and feeling isolated.

Faith is truely an amazing thing. You really capture the essance of it here in this. I think the bird is an absolutely fantastic way to end this. Perfect. Even the smallest do not go unnoticed.
Thanks for sharing this.

So beautiful and down to earth - -there in the barn, milking goats- -He is there. In your darkest moments- -He is there. When you reach out to others- -He is there. . .and look at the lowly sparrow, in this case a barn swallow, he neither toils nor reaps. . . a time to pause for reflection. This piece is well written, from the heart of your hearts and I find nothing amiss. thank you.
