Hullo Skye ....
As free-thought writing, this reads well and there is nothing to suggest changing. I personally do not
find great meaning in what you have written, especially relative to your title and the fact that the Contest calls for a poem about raising children. However, that is just my reaction to what you have written.
Thank you for sharing this with us and I wish you well in the Contest.

The prodigal child is a parable in the Bible. The child took his inheritance and squandered it. When he returned home, his father killed the fatted calf, gave him a new robe, a ring, and welcomed his return. This is the basis for the poem.. the loss, the longing, the hoped for return. The prodigal child is still dancing.
Thanks for the insight and review.

Dear poet,Really good, I like your styleThis is a little bit cryptic I like the poetry in it. I thought this was passionate . very well written piece, not hard to read. There were no errors. No typo's and nothing to change as far as i can see. I look forward to your next one

Wow! What an incredibly powerful free verse. I read it three times to let the impact of it sink in and, I have to tell you, as a mother, I felt every single word of the emotion in this poem. I feel it should be read softly, quietly - your words are so gentle and yet so powerful. I felt the anguish of the father. It's a very interesting take on this contest. You don't lecture us on how to bring up children but just by reading this, it makes us ponder on how we should raise them, what we can do to make them happy. Great job.

You are so kind. Your review hits on all the points the poem tries to create... the pain of both parents, the loss of the child, the hope... because the story of the prodigal child is one of return..
I really appreciate your insight and gracious words.

This is amazing. It is so emotion packed. I felt the anguish of the parents, the despair and feeling of giving up hope but never giving up hope. Though we had not had to go through this.

Raising children is never easy. I feel sometimes that it is too much... and then something wonderful happens to help me understand... it does get better.
Thanks for your wonderful support and kind words.
