Hello! I must share with you that I am not a great fan of Helen Stein Rice; however, I surely enjoy and appreciate the words and thoughts found in your beautifully expressed piece. Informative yet not preachy. You surely hit upon some very important topics regarding being a member of this writer's community. Very well executed. Best Wishes!

thanks, Mrs KT. I like a lot of her cards for special occasions but my mom adored her books which is why I chose to use her. I try to save my preaching for the pulpit. love, jan

So true! What a wonderful "paraphrasing" of Helen Steiner Rice. You didn't tell the same story, but you difinitely told your own FanStory following the strict guidelines. This is both clever and most interesting. I like what you had to say and how you said it. Good job and a good entry in the contest. mslyla

Hi Rdfrdmom,
From God's jewels to FS jewels. Love the way you put this together with the feeling of Helen Steiner Rice. The fact that you brought FS into what you wrote adds a special touch. I've really enjoyed the writing in this contest. Everyone has followed the path of the orighinal poem, but transposed it to a different setting and circumstances. I think your poem was great
Good Luck in the Contest,
Helvi :o)

This is heartwarming. If we could all recognize the work of others as valuable, the world would be a much kinder place. In "accepting GOd's flawless plan", as you so wisely advise, we would gain so much wisdom. Though His plans sometimes seem strange to our mortal minds, they are plans of a mind wise beyond anything we can imagine. Excellent and thought-provoking. Best of luck in the contest with this jewel. Blessings to you, Linda

A very good supportive poem. You definitely "catch" Rice's style, but localize it in the context of this site. The change of context is so complete your poem doesn't seem like plagiarism. Excellent work.

Thanks, Alvin. Having never done one of these, I was worried about the plagiarism issue. I am relieved that someone of your talents view it within its own context. love, jan

I think some of the most gifted people here will never been seen by most because they aren't able to promote their stuff. Your words are true in every line

This challenge must have been difficult to do, but sometimes those are the most rewarding, eh?
Great job. I love the poem you wrote and the one that inspired you. The message is clear and somewhat amusing. :)
The reviews that I treasure the most are the ones that better my story or poem, and do that in a kind and knowledgeable manner. I really don't like the mean-spirited (better than thou) reviews. They help no one, including the haughty reviewer.
Writers on FanStory have such a myriad of gifts. When we share our different talents in a giving and constructive way - it is more valuable than any amount of stars.
Thank you for this wonderfully inspiring piece, Jan. I thoroughly enjoyed your poem, as well as your notes.
Blessings, my friend.

I like the thoughtful and provocative by-line: "everyone has something to offer." I know, in a way or another, we all have special to contribute in life. Your mother, Helen Steiner, is a great writer and great philosopher also. What a blessing to have her as an inspiration to your work.
