Brooke, I have to read it again. It's one of my favorites also. There are parts in it that are beyond funny, that go into gallows humor as when the slow son keeps holding up the planks of Addie's coffin for her inspection. And, then, that Anse going to all that trouble (right?) to drag his dead wife's corpse through the heat for days, to fulfill his real objective: getting his new teeth and picking up the next "new" wife. He was so incredibly despicable. Really, perhaps the best drawn lazy man in literature. Franny

Franny, I'm so glad you share my total appreciation for this book, which I truly do believe is the funniest book in all of literature, though much of that humor is very very dark humor. : -) I worship at the altar of Faulkner. Brooke

Yes, I will get it from the library tomorrow. (Unless everyone else has beaten me to it.) More serious, but just as well written as your poetry. Congratulations! Terror

Hello, Adewpearl,

What a great book review. I was just encouraging my brother to pen his stories - he's a natural storyteller - his excuse was that doesn't have the time. None of us have the time but we can make it. I think I'll order this book, read it and pass it on to him. You've been very convincing. Good luck in the contest. Penelope

I do hope you buy the book as I really did mean it - not just for the contest - that it's the best book I've ever read, and I've read a great many. Thank you so much, Brooke

adewpearl, hello, and this was an excellent report about a powerful book. Loved the title and feel the power of the characters in your review. The fact that you gave everyone someone to relate to taps into the humanity of the story and by so doing touches all who read your review on this book. great job and good luck, have a gorgeous day! much love twomoon

Well you did it. Here is a book I've never heard of (isnt' that terrible) but it gives me an idea for something I've written.
So it is written from 15 points of view? I can't wait to get it

Yes, 15 points of view - and it is brilliant and funny and profound. Truly, if someone told me I had to identify the perfect book, I would hand him this one. Thanks for your review - I'm on my way to your script as soon as I finish reading the second installment of another guy's cop/mystery book I am following. :-) Brooke

Lovely book report here my friend. I am avoiding writing my assignment for Uni, by reviewing and thinking about what I shall write for my next contest entry. I think I shall go and buy this book or at least try and borrow it from the local library. Best of luck in the contest.
