I feel your loss and I'm a little teary-eyed after reading this tonight! They say death is a part of living and every one must go through it. I lost my Dad, my younger brother and my grandmother all within a year or two and those wounds still haven't completely healed. All I can say, is you took me there, to your daughter's hospital room and I stood and watched a mother and her precious angel and I felt the love between the two of you! Thank you for allowing me to realize somewhat of the inner turmoil as well the grand expectations you so bravely shared with your daughter and with me too! I will not soon forget!

I have been off the computer for much since Vesta died, that I had no idea your precious daughter died. My daughter, LaurieAnne just left after spending the weekend with us, doing all the chores we save for her. I saw your story and will review it when the tears drops stop. My heart aches for you, Barbara darling. Mona

I hate to see you in so much pain, as I haven't lost a child, Thank God above, I don't know exactly what you're feeling. I however did lose my mother at 45, and I held her hand through it. And my grandmother who was also very much my mother. I felt it when their life left them, with my grandmother died she was on life support also. But I knew it when she lifted out. I also saw those fogs, first hers then another moving closer. I'm sure it was her dead son that came to take her home. I remember telling both my mother and my gram to 'just go to sleep and when you wake up, everything will be better.' It's the hardest thing in the world to help a loved one cross. It rips out your heart, but when it's over, a little bit of peace remains to let you know that you really helped with a difficult journey. God bless, and remember they are still here with us. Just a thought away. ;-)

hugs,

Thank you so much heart. I think it is a pain that never goes away. I'm told it becomes not as intense though. Blessings. L&P2u

Yes, after awhile you come to cherish bittersweet memories. And realize that they are still with you. I remember how much comfort I got when I started to look more like my mom as I grew older. Bittersweet, but very comforting. Remember the little things, the sound of a laugh, or the smell of perfume and memories, and love come shinging through. Those are what stays with you through out time,
    God bless, and sweet dreams.

Your poem was very visual and touching. The tenderness and acceptance was apparent through your work. It evoked a deep sense of loss and peace at the same time. The gift you were given to hold her in your arms as her heart slowly stopped brought a thought of the gift you were given when you held her in your arms the day she was born. Full Circle.
You have a strong voice.
Good work.
I do not have any suggestions for how you could improve your poem. You have done a good job.

Barb, I didn't know about your loss until I saw this. I'm so sorry.

Thank you for sharing this poignant poem.
I'm out at the emergency room with my mother right now. She's not very well these days. Anyway, I read the poem to her and she was moved by it as well

Dearest Friend, this is the second friend I've heard from today who lost someone so special. Both had the gift of holding their loved ones while they headed for their final trip home. You wrote so beautifully of her. For all her years, she was your baby as my thirty-eight year old son and almost thirty year old daughter are mine. May God give you the comfort needed during this trying time.

Many hugs,

Maggie

My heart goes out to you Barbera. I am so sorry for the loss of your much loved baby, your daughter. You did her such great honour by writing this lovely tribute when your heart and mind must have been in such turmoil. I think she must have been an exceptional person to be given the opportunity to pass away in the arms of the person who most loved her. And the breathing machine? I disagree. She would have still been in that room pouring love all over you to help you cope with her departure. My brother died four years ago and I felt him all around me on that day and every day since. I hope you are gaining strength from all of the loving energy coming your way from us here on FS and your family and friends. Regards, Jan
