You do a wonderful job of describing this meaningful ceremony in a way that makes me feel as if I were also a witness to what went on. You portray the events with the dignity they merit, and I can see that boy scout in my mind's eye solemnly carrying out his duties. Well done.

my hope was to rekindle this very short but very meaningful celebration at scout camps all over the land. Too often a long ponderous ceremony is dragged out and the boys grow weary. They are just kids afterall, but this one they will remember always..

A very touching patriotic story. It is a real attention getter. It has good imagery and good descriptive scheme. May Old Glory fly forever.

You're welcome. Being a susitute teacher, I constantly battle for their attention.

two people to look up for February (black history month)
Sergeant William Carney (the true story of the first Black recipient of the Medal of Honor at the site of the Glory charge - not the movie that was so far off of history as to be pathetic.)
William Smalls, steamboat thief, and his Philadelphia 'Rosa Park's' type incident about 1863.
Fantastic stories and truer than anything hollywood ever produced.

Thank you for the heads up. Charlie

Very nice story. This was very straight forward, and told a nice tale of taking care of the American flag. You got your feelings out, and it was quite nicely done. Good job.

Very nicely done!
You have shared a moving ceremony, given tribute to our flag and our nation, and the Boy Scouts.
Lastly, you have let the reader feel pride in our country.
The only suggestion I have is a small one. Extend the pledge at the end to include the whole first line.
Thank You!

This is the second story I read that deserve a six. Unfortunately, I'm all out so I just write A. You had
just enough narration and the details were so clear
I easy became immerse in the non-fiction story.
