I like it, great venting, so many jezebels in the world, some women give us a bad name :) But Jezebels have nothing on the real deal, do they? Keep up the good work!

Hi Janilou :)
I've met a few Jezebels during my forty-seven years of marriage. Usually they were looking at some other husband so I've had ample time to study their looks, mannerisms and tricky moves.

Why were these Jezebels looking at other husbands and not me? Easy answer, because Marilyn stays tightly clamped to my arm unless of course she goes to the lady's room.

Now that's no threat either. When one woman goes to the lady's room, a whole parade of women follow. I've noticed that if any Jezebels are in the room Marilyn includes their position in her march toward that room where no man dares to follow..

For some unknown reason the banding together of women heading toward their inner sanctum is stronger than the migration urge of geese when winter closes in.. I have studied this phenomenon for almost fifty years and still have no answer as to why.

Maybe the Jezebel gene is active in all women and they fear the dire consequences of not keeping a constant eye on the competition.

Then again Marilyn may realize thst Jezebels aren't looking for fat, bald and toothless septuagenarians unless they are filthy rich. If that is the reason, then maybe that cute blond that keeps eying me is just showing sympathy. Oh well. You write a good story Janilou.

Amen to that. We have similar problems, and I am not one bit afraid to let my man out into the world Cause he always comes home. twelve years together and ten years of marriage (8-7-98) have taught me that. My husband lives for three things

1) ME
2) Our kids (even the fosters)
3) Football seasons with the freedom to watch without me bugging him

I thought this was very good. Hopefully she doesn't get the idea to send him a naked email like one of my husband's co workers did. He forwarded it to his boss with a note to avoid any misunderstanding if she decided to cry sexual harassment. She doesn't work there any more.

Great post. Sorry about the rambling.

jan,
made me smile. made me laugh. made me happy for you. LOL if someone wants to have sex with my hubby, good luck. :P if it doesn't work for me it won't work for her either. :P
seriously, once i reached twenty-five i stopped worrying about other women wanting my man. i have too many other things to think about. i think my hubby doesn't like it that i don't get jealous. i don't worry about him going places without me, etc. i realized the other day that it is just the trust i feel. it is a great feeling. we all work in different ways. i like that you showed your hubby what women can really be like. you are right ... men can be so naive. LOL
easy to read and follow. no spaggies do i see. imagery is excellent. keep up the good work~
love,
barbara

You would go and post this when I dont' have any sixes available, wouldn't you?

Jan, vent or not, this is a fine piece and full of wisdom. I could feel sorry for the women doing this - except that if they succeed, they threaten not only their own, presumably shaky marriages, but other people's as well, and they have absolutely no right to do so.

Your thoughts about marriage being work, and a worthwhile work at that, are spot on, for me. A marriage, a love partnership of any kind, needs feeding to keep it alive, just as the people in it do. (Love your imagery at the end with the knife and apple pie - made me think that there could be an adjustment to the line about "the way to a man's HEART is through his stomach", lol!)

I really, really like your man's response to the various Jezebels' come-ons when he becomes aware of them. Showing extra attention to you - perfect!

Just a few little spaggy things for you:

slightest edge of a disdaining smile - suggest "disdainful"

when the wife, Sue began - Sue,

business and this woman is a client - comma

contacts her husband, Terry - comma

Hugs!
Louise xxxx

PS trivia for the day: Louis has decided he likes chips (ie. fries) but not if they're too salty. Isn't that ground-shatteringly important!

This is not venting; it is wisdom. You aren't raging at this rather foolish creature (if you are going to flirt with someone, at least be SUBTLE about it.) You taught your husband a valuable lesson before it was too late, for I am sure Jezzy would want to wear him down at his weakest, tiredest moment. You also point how there is more to a relationship between a man and a woman than just sex (though you seem to be quite satisfied in THAT department.) You give your husband what Jezzy can never give him--true love.

This flows extremely well; there's a nice staccato pace to it. You use both interior and exterior dialogue to develop your character and the, ahem, "slowness" of your husband.

You are a very lucky woman to have found someone who loves you so much. Since I know you, I am sure you thank God daily for that blessing.

If I had a six, it would be used on this piece, you can be sure. I thought you did an excellent job writing this essay, and you are perfectly right on, in all you stated. Best wished for the story of the month or whatever. Your writing deserves an extra star, and a bonus. Congrats!

An excellent rant, Jan. You are one very smart woman. When I hear my married friends (I am single and no, I would never make a play for a married man. After all, what goes around comes around) say that sex is not important in a relationship, it makes me think that perhaps they are in denial over the state of their relationship. Because, as you know, it is very important.

The story about the bleached blonde (and your husband's response) was priceless and left me laughing out loud!

I smiled, pulled Jez's knife out of my back, ran it through the dishwasher and used it to cut up apples and make my man one of his favorite pies. - what a GREAT line! lol

Good food and good (great even;-) sex keeps everyone happy!

You go, girl!

Take care,
Nita
