Hi Jan:
Lovely story, so tender and sweet. You write such dear things that always sound like they straight from your heart. Your love of God is conveyed eloquently in every word and gesture. Nicely done.

Ah! Nice twist towards the end; at first I thought it was the daughter who had died (the sentence 'She's d...' misled me. Hahaha!) but in the end it's the mother who has passed away....

Didn't manage to find any errors :) Thanks for sharing.

Hi Janilou :)
This is one of the most touching and sensitive stories I've ever read, Surely you can market it to one of the many women's magazines that publish short-shorts.

It would also fit religious magazines or a newspaper syndicate. It would be a nice seasonal piece for next Mother's Day.

There was no noticeable SPAG. I think it is ready for a query letter.Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Roger. I will see what I can do about marketing this one. Marketing is my weak point! That's for sure. So glad you liked it, and I am honored by the rating. Please forgive me for taking so long to respond.

Happy Birthday Jan!! This is such a special story with a great little twist at the end. Oh, yes...the twist:

This line didn't seem right. As the reader, I was unsure of just what twisted exactly.

...Then it twisted and headed up into the sky once more like a messenger on a mission.

This is beautiful just like you!

We loved what you did with this story, changing the POV from the mother?s to the daughter?s. We miss our family too. We don?t get to see them as much as we would like.

Love and blessings

    Jan,

You're more than welcome dear. I am hoping for more about the farm soon. :D I've found the website for the farm and I've shown it to Dan.

First you bring tears, then a twist.

Reallygreat writing. Very emotional and moving. I wouldn't change a thing.

If there are any nits I didn't recognize them.

Oh, Jan. This was so beautiful. How did you know I was missing my son--he died on a Friday the 13th many years ago. For some reason Father's Day really hit me this year too. Mine was barely 50 years old when he died. That seems so young to me now. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of love and promise. Your writing always inspires me.

Blessings,
Renie

Bless your heart, Renie. I am so glad I was led to write this, then. I think the holidays and birthdays are the hardest times.

Janilou,

This is an excellent story with a really good twist. As best I can tell, this is original, each of the two people in an alternate universe. The writing is excellent, but I have one small suggestion:

"I will never forget your first birthday or for that matter, your birth day." I think this might read better as, "I will never forget your first birthday or for that matter, the day you were born."
