The poet has mystically empowered the black bird. He has branded the bird an epitome of beauty and messenger of Satan, symbolic of death.
It is true, poets are always in serene dialogue with death, but it is sad enough to submit to what he had hitherto abhorred, dieing with the devil. It is philosophical tragedy.

The raven flew from the ark. I can't recall whether
it returned or not. I'd better look it up in my
Ultimate Bible Truth Or Dare Quiz Handbook
For The Wannabe Saint... one cool thing that
ravens do is mate for life and they also do
great somersault feats in the sky. And, best
of all, they know how to find any food you
may have left unattended in your pickup truck.
Excellent verse. Yours, Fish

    My dear Mr Fish
Well, thank you for that bit of Encylopedia Brittanic information about the majestic Raven my Fishy-friend! I didn't know they mated for life, so that's really interesting to find out. As to the nicking of food left in the pickup truck (or ute as we call 'em in Oz), I'll bear that in mind next time I borrow hubby's ute..

Excellent review! And thank you so much...your friend, 'pacalady xoxoxoxoxoxo

alpacalady,
I keep finding your writings. You are a good and prolific poet. I became intimately acquainted with the raven while spending a winter in Alaska. You have described them well and their dark sojourn probably solidifies the fact that they are scavengers. As usual your quatrain format has an enjoyable rhyming pattern making it flow well.

Thanks so much dportwood. What wonderful comments, and great thoughtfulness you've shown to my humble offering. Even as scavengers, they are totally stunningly beautiful birds, and the two I saw the other day sort of inspired this little write. I thank you once again for a wonderful review xoxoxoxo

Ah, delivering messages about changes coming in a person's life... I had a dream of driving along and suddenly a mass of crows crashed into the windscreen and carpeted the road in front of me. Yes, crows are indeed purveyors of mystical entreat.

Superb. Loved it

They sure are. I think their purpose is a bit tangled in different myths, and dependent on which country you live in. But they are the most stunning, beautiful birds. Thank you so much for another excellent review starman! xoxoxoxo

We have both ravens and their smaller cousins crows here in Saskatchewan. The crows depart in the winter for warmer climes but the ravens stay on. They are truly magnificent birds and do their job of cleaning up the environment. This is an outstanding ode to these beautiful birds.

Thank you so very much Carol. It's good to hear about the good these birds do. I know my poem touts their "evil", but just the same, appearances aren't always reliable. I appreciate your review and commens very much xoxoxoxo

this is just an outstanding piece of poetic brilliance
that is why I am giving this a six star review
for when you can follow in the masters footsteps
then you are coming into mastering this art form yourself... John

Alpacalady,
This is rather poe like with it's thoughts about the raven. Yes,
their color lends itself well to your poem and thoughts. I like Enthralled your by ebony luminescence Enamoured of other-worldly essence.

thank you so very much heyjude! You're not the first to liken this to Poe, and I tell you, I take this as very high praise indeed. While I've not read much of him, I have read some, and have always appreciated his style of poetry. So as said before, to be likened to him in any way, is very high praise for a lady of humble means...Bless you for this review xoxoxoxo

Paca! I loved this one. The raven is also my favorite bird for the same reasons. Oh, yeah -- the meat of the review: Fabulous images are created by the tone you set. Each carefully chosen word in the third stanza beat in my heart. Very well done (again!) DBL

Alpacalady, this is just very beautiful, the mystic touch that your words embraced did the raven justice..I too love the raven, for the mystery, beauty, and it's purpose is amazing, and you captured it with this lovely poetry that seemed to fly with ease with the raven as your wings..very nice..much love twomoon

I love this poem!

Your words are so well put together, this flows beautifully with no typos. It carries your reader along, upwards and swooping around like your subject. They are daunting, satanic looking birds aren't they? So impressive though:)

Well done!
MM

Thank you so very much MM! I feel greatly encouraged by your words...

I agree with what you say (well obviously I spose, considering I wrote th epoem!!??)
, but they are such majestic, stunning looking birds, especially when they're as big as the two I saw on the weekend. It was those swirling pools of colour on their jet-black wings that inspired this little mind of mind....

Thank you again for a wonderful and encouraging review ! xoxoxoxox
