This is a pretty haiku, Shelley Kay, to go with a pretty picture. You followed the rules for the correct number of syllables in each line, and made it a lovely little poem. Good luck in the contest.

I can see why you like this one. You paint a lovely picture and the piece is nicely accompanied with that awesome photo. It looks like a perfect greeting card and you stayed within the rules of a haiku. Expressing an essential moment in nature. Good job. Sincerely, Dean

Shelley,
This is beautiful and the picture is so lovely and accentuates
the poem. I love that ... a lullaby in rainbow sun whispers goodnight. Good luck on the contest.

I like the picture and the haiku certainly describes it well. Done in the traditional 5,7,5 format, for me, it offered no originality for a contest entry. Still I wish you the best of luck.

Shelley, this just sends me drifting away at the end of a day. That was a very touching write and the thought you capture here just fills me with silent longing and wonder. Thanks for sharing this and good luck with the contest.

I enjoyed both the well written haiku and the image that it is combined with. To me both combine to have a vacationy feel where one is relaxed enough to fully appreciate this. Good job!

I like it as well, so I'm glad you promoted it!
Beautiful words matched by beautiful artwork.
I am always amazed at the talented poets here at FS who can say so much, paint such a vivid picture, with so few words.
Well done! nitad

I love this haiku. Sparkling with originality!~
Especially lines two and three.

i think line one could lose the 'in the". the syllables need not be five... .in modern english haiku. but if you wish to stick to the standard syllable count, then why not add a two syllabled word that is descriptive , since "in and the" do not add meaning.

For example:

golden glowing sky

Loved this haiku!

Warm regards,
rama devi
