A potato candy? That's totally cool! Never heard of it before but it sounds like fun.
My only thought is to make the story a bit longer. This would allow for a more thorough description of the process. Also, by making it a bit longer you could boost the element of anticipation/suspense....get the reader as excited as you were.
You've got my curiousity peeked! Where did such a tradition come from? I'm a Christmas nut and go all-out for the the Holiday. I'm really intrigued by such a unique tradition.
Very good!

Thank you for reading my story and for the review you gave! It's a secret recipe from my mother's family in Ky.

This is very interesting. I've never heard of using a potato to make candy before. I love peanut butter, so I'm surprised that I've never tried this. Nice story with great family interest.
One nit ...
There was alot of movement -- a lot

Thank you for the great rating! I'm glad you liked it. This is an old recipe from Ky. The recipe in the story was not complete, there is a "secret" ingredient. Sorry.

What a beautiful memory!
The best gifts to both give and receive are those that come from the heart, especially ones we make (or bake) with our hands.
No spag to report. I thought it was lovely. The only additional piece of information I as the reader would enjoy would be the recipe. Perhaps added to the bottom of the story or maybe in the author's notes.
Blessings, Nitad

It is a sweet memory (pun intended!)
And you have written it with a gentle tone and pace that fit the theme to a tee.
So kind that you share sweetness - made with love- with your community. This story passes on the x-Mac spirit.
I never before heard of confections made with potato!
Warm regards,
rama devi

This is so "sweet" (made me actually hungry--what is the confection called?). Appreciate so much the sharing of one's precious memories, we have a family tradition of baking and distributing sweet rolls on Christmas Eve, it is such a blessing to share the love of Jesus Christ, and family with others. Thanks so much for sharing your story. Blessings, Roberta P.S. You could share the recipe below or in your story if you wanted to, it would add "flavor." (Just a small pun.)

Thank you for your high praise! The confection is called "Heaven's Divinity." It is a Ky recipe of my mom's. Think I'll keep the recipe a family secret at present!

Gentlewind,
I enjoyed this story about what your family does on Christmas Eve.
What a beautiful tradition to make candy and send it to people
in your community. The only thing I wondered about was ..in talking about the potato, should it be its skin. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your great review! You ask about the potato...Yes and no. When I wrote that part, I had to go back and look at it again myself and wonder why "his" and not "it?" My answer was: somehow there was a personality to that potato so it became a "he!"
