Great poem. Well written and it flows easily too. You sound like quite the gal, in your mid sixties, kicking back on the couch, drinking wine with the hubby and all that other good stuff. I see more of your writings lately...good for you...keep up the pace

CURSes! This is such a 6 star, and I am so out! Huge grin from this one, cheshire cat grin! I do my best thinking while I'm drinking, too, although alas, no more wine for me; still, pepsi and coffee work quite nicely, with the occasional cup o' tea when the funk's too deep to shovel. No spag, fave line above and hmmm...."we toast to us, our glasses clinking". Incredible write... yep, u have gotten much better, but the book's nothing to shrug off, am enjoying it greatly! shy

Thanks for the encouragement. Don't write much poetry due to limited talent; however, every once in a while, so little ditty gets stuck in my head and won't go away until I write it down. Glad you enjoyed this one. ann

It might be a bit of fluff but it is well written, it has great metre, it rhymes well. There aren't any technical problems and I enjoyed it.

Wonderful style of poetry, and the surprise twist is wonderful. I thought that she would tell him to shove off. But how wrong I was. The result was very tastefully described and delicately written.

I agree! I also do my thinking much better when I'm drinking my coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening, can't think of anything better.

I love your poem, excellent rhyme, rhythm and flow and of course the content is perfect for this evening. I'd go for a glass of wine but have nobody to drink it with, maybe tomorrow.

Your colour scheme seems to suit the mood of the piece and the way you have laid out your verse is super.
