Nice bit of real admiration, there, Snod. And you describe yourself in much the way I have assumed you are, from your postings. You've done a good job describing Claudia. She comes across as bold, warm, friendly and just a natural woman. A fun read.
I figured you'd done the artwork. Good job, Snod!
I enjoyed this just as much the second time around. It sounds like such fun, you two getting off on each other like that. You're an amazingly warm Englishman. LOL! I like to think you and I would get along just like that. You're a nice guy, snoddy. Seriously! Fun stuff.

Thanks. I actually called her something different and posted it to her first. She absolutely insisted I change her name back to her real one, so she could show her folks back home, so I think I got a fair stab at her.

Nice tribute to a friend. I must try that, sometime.

Ooh, now there's a thing. I don't get notified when you amend a review. Found this by accident. Thanks for re-reading this. I'm meeting her this evening to see if she likes the crayon job too. I may be gone some time

Oh, now I'm jealous! LOL!

Then send me a photo and I'll ruin your looks too.

These are the Americans I love. And this is why I love this country. I found a home here among friendly, warm people. The arrogant assholes are not really Americans - they are just pretending. LOL
A lovely story.

But where we would we be without racial stereotypes?
Glad you liked it

I really enjoyed this! There was a bit of SPAG you may want to fix...
"you actually try and sit in one, trying to look as though I prefer my own company." Pronouns don't match..."you" and "I". Also, I would "try" to gt rid of at least one "try"
"rare nerdettes walk past, shamelessly flaunting her electric-pink Blackberry." Ha!
"You can't help yourself {,} to deny her this vital information would be like denying a puppy water." Comma splice. I recommend a semi-colon here { }
"systems, I feel my" here too.
"Making Claudia laugh is like shining a flashlight at the sun, but you feel special anyway." Great analogy!
"other {,} a kiss too presumptuous." comma splice
"How are you, how's the family?" same here.
"centimetres taller than her," should be "than she"
"The sort of person that could be unfriendly to her would be the sort of person that could kick kittens." Good!
"And when it's time to go to the conference hall, I follow her comet tail, content to be in her universe." Cute!!!

Oh, I wouldn't dare post this without her having read it first.
Thanks for your review, and I'm glad you found it interesting.

Hey snod,
I liked this one a lot! My favorite line:
, I follow her comet tail, content to be in her universe. (wicked good.) Makes me almost forgive the 'loud American' thing. :)
Speaking of:
At face value she is what we always think an American tourist is like. She is loud: loud clothes, loud voice and loud personality.
But with that brashness is a lack of conceit.
(Whew, attack of the 'is's here, snod. Three in two lines, and then another. Adjust a couple. There were a couple of instances in this where I almost picked on 'em in other places, but let it go. Do a quick reread yourself and see if any stand out to you.)
Like the 'Barb' pronunciation, too.
Get to those 'is's, all right? I'm going to go change into some loud clothes, I got some errands to run! :)
Take care,
Sis

Yes, I'm sorry. 'Loud American' is a tautology, isn't it?
Thanks as ever for your honest review. I'll check it out in a couple of days.
