very good use of traditional sonnet form and rhymes i like the first stanza the best - it sums up the entire poem in four aptly chosen lines and packs an emotional punch in the word choices

This is one of the most beautiful and meaningful poems I've read this evening. Though reading it made me sad, it is well written with no errors. Consistent rhymes. And the seeming inevitability of change in relationships is clearly shown. Great job!

Well done. I felt lines eleven and twelve could have been worked over a bit--not fond of the "firm good-bye", nor of the "rainbow drums". Quibbles about imagery aside, I think this is an excellent sonnet, maybe the best I've read on FanStory.

This is a lovely Sonnet! Hadn't read any since a long time, and this was a welcome change. The theme of your sonnet is quite appealing, and you expanded it quite well in the second quatrain. The "volta" is a bit cliche, but you made that up with some fine phrasing and imagery in the next few lines. The concluding couplet is thought=provoking. I enjoyed reading it

This is a wonderful, thought-provoking poem. I love your second stanza, it's imagery is stunning. Your entire poem provides wonderful food for thought. The autumn follows with its rainbow drums is a beautifully written line, great metaphor. Outstanding poem!

Love the verse describing the seasons especially "Autumn follows with its rainbow drums". It is a line that reminds me of the various colors of Autumn that are so vivid. Your theme of how we change comes through clearly in your poetic form.

I don't see any artwork. This could be written for and to a muse, a loved one... It makes me think of my own family, how this day and age sometimes we are almost torn apart with our differences but I am not yet ready to throw in the towel - I'd rather put a ban on the topics of conversation and realize what is truly important. But others, sometimes it is best to let go... As far as a muse - not so easy to banish - seems to always be lurking in the background... Nicely penned - I feel this is wide open for interpretation, but I realize you have a specific in mind.
