Mrs KT, here you capture His presence in nature. Not least among many beautiful lines in this poem is, ".. the gentle grasp of my newborn babe." Birth and rebirth, echoed in all of nature, transitional, permanent, beyond comprehension, is brought before the reader in this wonder filled poem. "I cannot shake Him loose." I like that line.
Part of the reason this poem is so powerful is that it's not only about love for God, but also the petty human emotions we all feel towards him at some time in our lives.
Good flow. I liked the repetition of that one line, "I am no stranger to God."

of his warring and sick children,

devoid of memory and love.

what got to me the most was the humanity you wrote about ... you clearly discuss your reverence of God as well as the times you have been angry and cursed him. and God's relentless desire to hold you (and each of us) close in spite of times such as those.

and for what it's worth? i believe that your mom did see that dogwood tree. i believe it is very possible that she was there with you gazing on its' splendor just as you did.

Hello Friend! Well, I must share that this is my very first public spiritual poem - although when I have written of nature, God is there, too. . . But this year has been rather trying, and suddenly the words just started spilling forth as I stood among those dogwood. The only way to explain how I was feeling was to put it in poetry form. . . and share it. Maybe this is God's way of giving me confidence to write of my mother, who I love dearly. . . Of all the member of my family, I have been unable to write of her to the extent that I have written of others. . .she has suffered greatly. . . maybe this is a beginning. . .
