This is an excellent poem. I noticed you wrote it in 2007 and I can see you are still blessing us with the same awesome talent you had then. Well done on this verse. I appreciate you sharing your faith with me. Regards!

    Hello Friend,
I joined FanStory in 2007, and I contributed consistently for the next three or four years, but then life threw me a few curves, and I only contributed sporadically. I retired from 38+ years of teaching last year, and now I am free once again to write. It is wonderful to be back.
"This Easter Morn" is one of my favorites. Just had the need to share...
Thank you for your excellent rating and complimentary review.
    Happy Easter!

Your lovely verse tells of God's handiwork in a wonderful way.
And you describe the dogwood nicely.
I'm sorry to hear that the trees that your parents planted were bulldozed. Some people have no eye for things beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this.

KT: I like your poem honoring God in His beauty of the dogwood. I
have seen dogwood bloom in the spring under the tall trees in the shade.
I also like the Magnolia trees of the south. Yes, it is great to see through
eyes of the poet. Great images and faith.

Live your life with love. Thanks for witnessing to the
world. We should all have hope every day. God bless. flylikeaneagle

    Hello Friend,
I love that you addressed me as "KT!" My students always called me that!
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review.
We have flowering dogwood in northern Michigan, but nothing compares to what I saw along that Carolina path. Just breathtaking to behold.
    Happy Easter!

diane: My daughters were born in Dallas. We loved the huge gardens and swimming pools. Monica and Annie now are in Denver. Monica helps youth with autism. Annie will go into college this fall for education.

Thanks for encouraging the students. Maybe, they can read some of your poems or write some of their own. I had my daughters rewrite children stories. Monica went into gifted in kindergarten. Miss them. God bless. flylikeaneagle

I wish I had six stars left to give. What a lovely and inspirational poem about spring, Easter--God's love. Yet it was also raw and honest with the stanza: And I have cursed and defiled His name when a loved one's pain and sorrow have become too much to bear, and I am without answers to soothe a wounded and tormented heart.

This poem is as solace for body and Spirit - a striking and meaningful feature of the poem is the personal link created between the poet and God - a personal relationship - not always benign and therefore more realistic-with God shines through

A very well-written Easter poem. A time we stand still for a moment in remembrance of God's unending love for us. He holds our hand in His and never let it go.

Hi Diane,

I love the idea of listing all the positive things God shows us :) I'm not one for the hell and brimstone lectures.

My favorite moment in your poem:

- "but He refuses to lose me"

That is so awesome. It reminds me of what a Pastor once told me when I was down and out, "He has his hand on your shoulder and is with you always".

This poem inspires me and lifts me out of my funk. Thanks for that, my friend.

Joy xx
