A,
I think you are absolutely right. Those people who have only known and lived in the darkest places have no idea of the beauty that comes from living in the light. Cute! Thanks!

Honestly , little difficult to understand. With the author note could appreciate the meanings.
Message is getting conveyed for sure; understand the limitations. Overall appreciate the effort under 5-7-5 rule.

Again, interesting, but not my cup of tea, really . . .You get my vote for originality which has been crucified with words seemingly picked at random and run together. This is honestly. LOL I will read a few more to see if it all becomes clear to me. livelylinda

Hi there, this is different, I was glad of the author's notes, as the meaning may have eluded me otherwise, but after that, I found this interesting, original and thought-provoking. Your poem your way, and I liked it, cheers, Ana.

Of course joy is always life's aim, and nothing else compares. Sometimes it's the simple things, the uncomplicated moments that bring joy. I love the thought behind your 5-7-5.
Blessings...

Happy with short-lived
Dark, illusive, black pleasure? ------- Do you mean elusive? and why a question
mark. It seems out of place.
If tasted white joy!
This doesn't seem to make sense to me.
I see your list of meanings in your notes. That being said, if you put one of those words in it's place, maybe you can see how it doesn't connect.
If tasted white joy, why would one be happy with dark/black
- or- some of your meanings: depressing, devastating, dreadful, fatal, grimy, harmful, immoral, impious, ironic, irreligious, morbid, nefarious, pessimistic, skanky, sour, stained, unfortunate, unrighteous, vicious, villainous, weird
Dark means and refers to words: abstruse, atrocious, cryptic, damnable, dusky, forbidding, foul, grey, hellish, infamous, infernal, mysterious, mystic, nefarious, occult, ominous, puzzling, satanic, secret, shadowy, sinful, vile, wicked

Perfectly said. How can one be happy with things that can't bring happiness when you know what real light is. One simply can't. Your poem says it all very nicely.

This is brilliant! A definite six stars, if I had one left!
It is particularly because of the symbolism embeded in the words "black" and "white" that I do not refer to any human being as "white" when in reality they are a continuum of pigmentation ranging from brown to pig-pink, or as "black" because they are a continuum ranging from brown to dark brown. Because of the symbolism, we find that only two groups of people (I never use the word "race" for human beings - you don't breed human beings like horses or dogs) refer to themselves using this fictitious skin colours that put the two at polar opposites, with the rest of the human groups somewhere in between them.
How stupid can one get, huh??

Humanity is a complex blend of both dark and light, and it is through embracing the dark that we can find our way back to the light. What an original piece paired beautifully with color and image.
