O Evils!

interesting 5/7/5 social commentary on pleasure
i wonder why you chose white as a positive and black as a negative
good syllables count and connection between lines

Wow! This poem needed explanations that I guess shorten the sight of readers that they may imagine. In my last job I did the same: I explained all the words and intentions behind that I was thinking about. I am not correction you in any way, I am just commenting what I read and what I think about it. Your 5-7-5 is perfect (as can be easily seen by the strong recognitions) and I guess that explanations pay their effort. Good luck in the contest!!

No doubt many will infuse this not with the more universal meaning, but with racial overtones--because that is the world of division we live in today. Your notes are appreciated. We must resist the "programming" of the inferred speak, hear and see no evil... For to ignore its presence is to admit defeat.--Karenina

I like the picture you chose which certainly sets the stage for your words. I appreciated your author's notes which give a complete understanding of your poem. Nicely done.

god is the light at the end of the tunnel. evil is darkness at the end of the light. in god we trust,in evil we fear which is short lived. your poem was written with imagery and talent. thanks for the read. "your so vein" means mood or humor.

your so vein

An interesting concept of good verses evil. Darkness verses light. Light leads the way where one stumbles in the dark. Best to you with your writings. Thanks for sharing.

I like you small poem and thank you for your author's notes. Without your notes I would not have fully understood your poem. I agree with the message in your poem and I congratulate you on the original way you gave your thoughts. We could also say that the dark relates to fear; the white, to love. Well done. I love the illustration. You mixed an old idea with new thoughts.

Speak no evil, hear no evil and see no evil.
It thrills my blackened heart to see poets try to dismiss the darkness as darkness is a part of each and every one of us.
Darkness is also not necessarily a bad thing. It all depends upon one's personal perspective and what the darkness is used for--personal gain, or enlightenment.
As I have stated many, many times in the past:

Excellent use of words that captures the opposites of dark and white. Your last line "if tasted white joy" is a fitting last line. Your words also make the reader think about the two oppposites.

This work has reached the exceptional level

The author is saying that, not having experienced the love and grace of God , man is immersed in the sensual, dark, selfish, devilish "pleasure" which is always short-lived. But once knowing God and living in Spirit ( a life learning process), man is blessed, and he is at peace.
