I seemed to have read this out of sequence Carol, but this episode seems to explain that eternal hold that Victoria has over William, a nice man and now, Ghost, insure you have this story in hand, well done, blessings Roy

I think Victoria was always the driving force behind William and when he decided to repent and give back, she didn't like it. Maybe that's why the treasure was hidden so securely. Makes one wonder if she might have been involved in the original murder. LOL Thanks so much.

You sure know how to create villains and villainesses. But I can't understand how these spirits have so much flesh-like abilities - like drinking champagne and putting on perfume and touching and even being able to be hit by a candlestick holder which should go right through a spirit.

When I researched...because i know nothing about ghosts...it said that if the ghosts could materialize to mortals, then they also could do things like mortals do. They might not respond the exact way as mortals but similar. It's a fictional story so I'm just doing my best...

Victoria is more vicious and selfish than I had ever imagined. She will now have the key. My question is...what is the treasure? Is it money or gold? And how will a ghost use the treasure. If this has all been explained, I think I somehow missed it. Regardless, it looks like the treasure has a strong chance of belonging to Victoria, unless Lorrie and the other ghosts find out she has the key.

Me too! I didn't set out to make her that way, but it seems thats how her character unfolded. She saw a chance to be an aristocrat again and lost track of her original goal. I'm not sure she can be saved. The treasure is all the "stolen loot" that the Judge and his crew stole from every nook and crannie they found. It's anything worth value. But when he had a change of heart...he hid it in the mansion, but a bullet to the head made him forget where. And the evil ghosts...they are just evil and can't comprehend that if they have the treasure they will be damned to hell and the treasure won't do them any good anyhow. Smiles, Carol

Wow, that was an amazing chapter showing the true nature of Victoria and how she'd really been like. The murder scene was so very well described. I loved how you said William turning into an icy mist. They both were ghosts, after all. Ulla xcx

Yes, they are...and we have no idea if that was the end of William or whether he has vaporized to appear somewhere else.... far away from Victoria I hope. Thanks again as always.

The evil Victoria even gets a chance at redemption. You create such complex characters. I am visualizing you in your writing cave, unhindered by distractions. I need a place to write. Sitting at the kitchen table just isn't conducive to creativity. Esther

I have a desk in my family room which looks out over the river and its very quiet most of the times. I usually write my stories in the early morning hours and then do reading and reviews throughout the day...off and on. As for Victoria...she's about to make a decision that will end any chances of being with William in the hereafter... maybe Sebastian can help her.

Wow... Quite the morality tale playing out, and Victoria is willing to kill to make her point...

(William didn't stand a "ghost" of a chance)

Sometimes I can't help myself..

"A sense of foreboding for the future nagged at him."

(I think you could omit "for the future" here)

Victoria is shallower than a puddle!

Yes, Victoria has lived in the mansion for so long that now when she sees the possibility of reliving as a aristocrat, she's lost site of the fact that she will end in damnation.

Victoria seems to try every one of her tricks to influence William, but in the end, she apparently sent him into oblivion. Her desire for the treasure is consuming her and may ruin everything for all the ghosts.

Yes, Victoria is remembering and wanting the aristocrat life she once knew and she mistakenly believes finding the treasure will give her this. I think she will realize her error, but it might be too late.

Victoria is so trapped in her own selfishness and greed that seems to have only intensified with death. It is interesting that your ghosts drink wine, change clothes, and attack one another physically. I imagine this is a byproduct of materializing, maybe? Excellent, dramatic writing!

Exctly...I wasn't sure if this was possible but I read that if ghosts can materialize and present themselves to mortals, they also adapt to that in other parts of their lives. I wasn't sure about hitting William on the head, but according to some, I can write it that way. So I did! Oh well, it's fiction anyhow. LOL

You're in charge lady. You can write it how you want! :-)
But I think it follows just fine how you have.

I don't really know what I am doing...just shooting in the dark, I suppose, hoping it is entertaining. Since I've never met a ghost...I draw my own pictures. LOL

This might be my favorite chapter yet. Although, I've liked them all. But I only wish I had a six to reward it properly. I like reading numerous chapters every week, but I don't like that there isn't enough stars to go around. Thanks for sharing.

Not to worry, my friend. Though I certainly appreciate the sixth sat, I enjoy hearing from you and the others that they are loving the story. When I get on a roll...which doesn't always happen with this story...I need to write and keep writing till I get it down. I'm two thirds through the next chapter so maybe....I might get it written today. Then I need to read, read, read, because I've spent the money I won in the contests and now I must earn some more. Thanks so much for always enjoying my efforts and of course for encouraging me with those virtual sixes.
    Smiles always, Carol

I wouldn't think any physical violence would have an effect on a ghost but when you are dealing with things which we really don't understant, who am I to say you can't slaly a ghost. This is your story nad you are deciding what you can and cain't do.

Thanks, Beth...I researched and to my surprise (because I too had doubts) I discovered that if the ghost is capable of manifesting his body so that mortals can see him, then they are also subject to violence..... now William had disappeared....does that mean death?
