Sister Vivian Bullwinkle desires every praise, award, and good will that anyone can give to her. She rose above her fear and bravely stood her ground, fighting for those around her. Very well written.
Smiles, Carol

Wow. What a story. She was definitely a hero. Wild War 2 was a wake up call for the world. Such atrocities that were commonplace all over the world. I might just have to look her story up. Things and people like these should never be forgotten. Thank you for sharing. Gretchen

This is an excellent piece for War and History poetry. The structure of beginning a line with the last word of the previous line is fascinating. This story of a brave nurse is tragic, beautiful, and inspiring. Very nice job! Best Wishes!

What an amazing story. There are many amazing people who have stories of how they suffered such horrible torture but had a spirit too strong to be broken. Your poem is a beautiful tribute to her.

Wow. What an incredible story this was. I am amazed at the strength people find when in these incredibly difficult situations and how they manage to save their own lives through ingenuity and intelligence. I am not sure I would be able to do the same. Thanks for sharing.

This is a wonderful tribute to Nurse Vivian.
The structure is interesting. Is there a name for this particular format?
What a courageous woman she was. Inspirational and your poem does a masterful job of recording this. Well done.

Good morning, Kay,
I was drawn to your loop poem paying tribute to the courage of Sister Vivian as my uncle, Sgt. William A. Kenel was also taken prisoner by the Japanese when the Philippines were surrendered. He survived being a POW for 31 months at Cabanatuan Prison only to die at the hands of an American submarine blast from the U.S.S. Snook, while he and 1500+ POWs were chained in the hold of the Japanese Hell-ship, the Arisan Maru.
So much suffering and courage, which you relate well in your poem.
Please note:
In your Author's Notes, you state that Sister Vivian was born in 1942.
Actually, Vivian Bullwinkel was born on 18 December 1915 in Kapunda, South Australia,

Thank you for sharing!

Diane, Many thanks for picking up the wrong date!
Forgive an old lady, I do make mistakes. Every family has a story of a lost loved one in the war. Bless you, my friend. Kay XX

War is so bloody useless. Now, the nukes are hard at work killing Ukrainians. I've given up watching TV.
